Rogers puts Sony Ericsson Xperia Play and Arc up for pre-order

<img alt="" border="1" hspace="4" src="http://img819.imageshack.us/img819/1563/rogersxperiapreorder040.jpg" vspace="4">Well, it's not yet confirming the "late April" launch date that leaked out yesterday, but Rogers has now just started accepting pre-orders for both the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play and Xperia Arc, each of which will run you $99.99 on a three-year contract (there's no indication of off-contract pricing). It does say, however, that the current "offer" will expire on May 2nd, which could possibly be an indication of an actual release date, or just the beginning of a different offer. What's more, Rogers has also revealed a small surprise of another sort -- it turns out that it will be carrying both the black and white versions of the Xperia Play. Well, today is your day -- ExoPC has just announced that it's teamed up with Microsoft's very own store to bring you the 11.6-inch Windows 7 tablet. There's only one configuration at the moment, but $699 buys you a rather thin 0.5-inch slate with 64GB of flash storage, an Intel Atom N450 processor, 2GB of RAM, Windows 7 Home Premium with ExoPC's unique UI layer, and a front-facing 1.3 megapixel camera. As for that UI, ExoPC just told us that a major update should be coming next week and that it'll amend a number of issues we had with our early review unit. The slate is currently up for pre-order on the Microsoft Store website, but we're told it will start shipping out early next week. And if you're waiting to check it out in person before pulling out the plastic, we hear they should be arriving in all those Microsoft retail locations soon -- apparently, San Diego and Scottsdale already have 'em in stock. Hey, looks like Mr. Ballmer was right, we will have Win 7 tablets this "crucial holiday season."

UPDATE: TechRadar spoke to The Carphone Warehouse, which confirmed a 'huge interest' in the device to us: "The Google Nexus S is a game-changer for Android so it's great to see so many networks getting behind it. We've seen huge interest in the phone over the last few days since pre-ordering began at The Carphone Warehouse," a spokesperson told Techradar. "We now have a great offering of Android handsets which will continue to grow in the New Year." The phone will be <a href="http://www.carphonewarehouse.com/mobiles/mobile-phones/NEXUS-S-FROM-GOOGLE?intcmp=hp-hp-bnr-v1-1163">available to buy both on contract or PAYG/SIM free</A>, with the former costing £35 per month for a free phone - O2, Vodafone, T-Mobile and Orange are supporting the phone, but Three is nowhere to be seen. However, while £35 per month does get you a plethora of minutes and unlimited texts, the most you can get data-wise is 750MB included. Go big for a gig To get over 1GB allowance, you'll need to sign up to a £50 a month deal, which seems a little extreme, and will hopefully be updated when the networks start offering it directly (if they ever do). SIM free the Google Nexus S will cost £549.95, with the PAYG curiously the same, but with a mandatory £10 top up - usually paying a network for the phone will get you a micro-discount at least. Still, there's not long to wait, as the Google Nexus S UK release date is set for 20 December - enough time to blackmail Santa (with those photos of him bothering that OTHER reindeer) into bringing you one.
