Raise your hand if you've ever found Web Outlook on your Mac ugly and unusable, particularly the "classic" style. Now, if you have an iPhone and have been forced to use this adomination of everything good about web design, you know that the painful gets even more painful when you have to constantly zoom into impossibly small targets. Of course all this would be precluded if you could use your personal iPhone with your company's Exchange server, but that isn't going to happen.</div>

What do you do? First, take a look at Webmail++. This app scrapes off the gunky code in Web Outlook and presents it to you in an iOS-friendly format. For iPhone and iPad, the app does a good job of making Outlook on Webkit far more usable, even touch friendly. Check out the video for some nice touches, like floating menus.</div>

Click on the photo you want to download (probably the largest one), and it will display a link next to the word "Download." Both Delicious, the bookmarking service, and AltaVista are set for the chop, after some internal slides were leaked. Delicious was bought back in 2005 by Yahoo and did have around 5 million users. Alta Vista is from the web of old – a search engine that was once the most popular, until Google arrived to dominate this area. Streamlining products The leaked slides were confirmed by Yahoo as being real. The company released a statement saying: "Part of our organisational streamlining involves cutting our investment in underperforming or off-strategy products to put better focus on our core strengths and fund new innovation in the next year and beyond." "We continuously evaluate and prioritise our portfolio of products and services, and do plan to shut down some products in the coming months."

Yahoo adds GetJar apps to its mobile search

In a deal that the companies are calling a 'first of its kind', GetJar is hoping that melding information about its apps on to Yahoo Mobile will increase awareness of the site and the content that is on offer. The search results for the apps - of which there are 75,000 - will work by keyword. So if you search 'sport', then a bunch of sport-related apps will appear. App-reciation GetJar is a third-party app store that offers up all of its content for free, with the apps coming with adverts. It made headlines last month when it was the store chosen by Rovi to host <a href="http://www.techradar.com/news/phone-and-communications/mobile-phones/angry-birds-android-app-full-version-now-available-for-free-901163">Angry Birds for Android</A>. It was picked instead of Google's own Android Market and it meant the store had exclusivity of the game for a limited time. The Yahoo Search integration looks likely to come to the UK in 2011.

In the URL search bar, type "http://www.yahoo.com" just as you would normally when visiting the website. Click "Submit" or "Search," depending on the website's setup. This will allow the proxy to begin its anonymous web search to Yahoo!, bypassing web blocks and accessing issues.Browse through Yahoo! as you would normally once the proxy loads the web page. What you do need is a Windows Live ID, but once you have this you can use Hotmail-specific features like the ability to send up to 10GB of photos in one email, without IT ringing you up in tears telling you that your actions have made your workplace's computer infrastructure 'go all Skynet'.POP goes the HotmailDick Craddock from Microsoft was so excited about the new feature, he wrote <a href="http://windowsteamblog.com/windows_live/b/windowslive/archive/2010/11/01/use-hotmail-features-without-changing-your-email-address.aspx">a blog on it</a>, explaining: "We understand. You already have at least one email address and you probably don't need another. "You may also use your existing address for things other than just email, such as signing in to online shopping sites, which makes changing even more challenging. Also, you might have an address that you really like, but a similar name might not be available on another email service. So we looked for a way to make it easier for people to give Hotmail a trial run."And 'how has Microsoft done this?' we hear you cry. Well, Craddock writes: "Implementing this was fairly straightforward given the architecture of Hotmail, our POP aggregation support, and the 'Send As' feature that lets you send mail from any validated email address. "We just needed to tweak the way we store and look up email addresses, build the first-run experience, and we had it."Once done you can send and receive mail using Hotmail but keeping your Gmail or Yahoo address. This new feature should be rolled out to all users in the coming days.
