Log in to your Yahoo! email account.

Click the "Options" button on the top-right corner of the page.

Click "More Options" to open the "General" options page. Click the "Contact" button on the left-side of the page. The "Contacts" page opens and displays your contacts.

Click "Tools," and then click "Export." The "Export" panel appears and displays a list of export locations. These include "Microsoft Outlook," "Netscape/Thunderbird" and "Yahoo! CSV." An "Export Now" button appears next to each location.

Click the "Export Now" button next to the location that you wish to store your backup. For instance, to store it in Microsoft Outlook, click the "Export Now" button next to Microsoft Outlook. A verification window will open and ask you to type the letters that you see into a text box.

Type the letters that you see into the text box and click "Export Now." A pop-up window opens.

Click "Save File," and then click "OK." Yahoo will export a comma-delimited "CSV" text in Microsoft Excel format. Yahoo saves the file in your default "Download" folder.
