This number is a very small part of China Mobile's 600 million subscribers, but it's surprisingly high for a carrier that does not currently sell any model of the iPhone. These iPhones on China Mobile are either purchased directly from China's five Apple stores, converts from China Unicom which does carry the iPhone 4 or are iPhones obtained on the black market. It's well known that many iPhones being sold in China are smuggled in from foreign countries and sold to customers in open air markets.</div> <div style="color: #444444; font-family: Georgia, 'Bitstream Charter', serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 1.5; margin-bottom: 24px;"> This illicit market may face some competition as China Mobile hopes to carry the iPhone when Apple manufacturers a version compatible with the carrier's TD-LTE standard for 4G. According to Wang, China Mobile does not have a contract with Apple, but Apple has supposedly promised to support TD-LTE when it develops an LTE-enabled iPhone handset. Steve Jobs and Tim Cook have reportedly visited with China Mobile executives to discuss this technology and a possible carrier agreement.</div> <div style="color: #444444; font-family: Georgia, 'Bitstream Charter', serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 1.5; margin-bottom: 24px;"> China Mobile is the world's largest wireless carrier and an official agreement would vastly increase the number of potential iPhone owners. Nearly all web traffic in China is monitored and censored, and while the Chinese version of the Android Market must conform to these rules as well, there’s nothing stopping the government from simply shutting it down on a whim. Other than that, we're not seeing anything new here, though we can't help but wonder if the unused Xperia Duo trademark has finally found its rightful owner -- you know, maybe Duo as in a two-part slider phone? Delivered by the same folks who brought us the sixth-gen iPod nano display module leak, this time we have what appears to be a chassis for the next touchscreen nano. According to <em>Apple.pro</em>, the circular hole at the top right is likely to house a little camera, which would bring back the good old days with the camera-donning fifth-gen nano. Obviously, to make space for such an imager here, the spring-loaded clip on the back would have to be downsized and shifted, which would explain why the four screws are off-centered here, unlike those on the current-gen nano (as seen in <em>iFixit's</em> teardown shot after the break). That said, let's not forget that this rumor is coming straight out of KIRFdom, so we'll remain skeptical until this baby pops out around September time, as has been the case with most nano launches in the past.</div>

Samsung Aims for Number 1 Spot in Mobile, Decides to Replace Nokia in 3 Very Short Years

Nokia currently holds the top spot for mobile phone manufacturer in the world, but Samsung officials have said that their next 12 months will be very important since they’re aiming to outpace Nokia in three years time. The Korea Times reports that Samsung intends to have smartphones and other “premium products” account for over half of its mobile phone production targets in the future – can you say Android?<br /> <br /> Samsung says they aim to increase their percentage of phone manufactured in China and Vietnam next year while also increasing its market share in those two nations as well. Samsung’s current three factories in China account for right around 60% of its production while their Vietnam factory (one, single one, ) will soon take up 15%, and their factory in Brazil will be 6% of their total. Then there’s their India factory right in at 5%, and in their home country of South Korea they’ve got 14% of all production – but focusing entirely on their higher-end devices. China blocks Wikileaks over latest stunt

We hope the US side will handle the relevant issues.</P><br /><P>"As for the content of the documents, we will not comment on that."</P><br /><P>It's a rather muted response, but one that suggests it is up to the US to sort out where the leaks are coming from before something more serious is released.</P><br /><P><STRONG>Name dropped</STRONG></P><br /><P>China's name was mentioned in the documents released. It was in connection with the hack of Google which forced <a href="http://www.techradar.com/news/internet/google-looks-likely-to-pull-out-of-china-676844">the search giant to pull out of China</A>.</P><br /><P>The documents said that China's Politburo (a Communist group) was behind the hack.While this isn't proof, it is an allegation that China will certainly want to shy away from.</P><br /><P>This isn't the first time that Wikileaks has been blocked. It was banned <a href="http://www.techradar.com/news/internet/australian-government-takes-wikileaks-off-banned-website-list-585894">in Australia</A> back in May after it released details of what sites were blocked Down Under. The ban on the site in Australia has since been lifted.</P>

Sharp to take 3D phones into US, India and China

<img src="http://cdn.mos.techradar.com//classifications/Mobile%20Phones/Sharp3d-handsets-200-200.jpg"> <br /> <P>Sharp has announced that its autostereoscopic 3D screen will be used in phones that will be arriving not only in Japan, but also the US, China and India. </P><P>Although there is no mention of the UK, as yet, the decision to push a 3D phone outside of its home territory would appear to raise the chances of the technology making it to Britain. </P><P>Sharp is behind the screen on Nintendo's eagerly awaited 3DS handheld, and the glasses-free 3D technology is certainly impressive. </P><P><STRONG>Galapagos handsets</STRONG></P><P>The first phones to feature the screen will, as TechRadar reported, be the <a href="">Galapagos 003SH and 005SH</A> which are likely to be limited to the Japanese market. </P><P>But the company has now indicated that it will target not only the US, but also China and India – three huge mobile phone markets. </P><P>Sharp appears to making a big push back into the global markets – and the mobile phone market is certainly potentially lucrative for the company.</P>
