The Samsung Galaxy S II has finally made it’s way to the states through the Now network, and the sign-up page is already live over at AT&T! T-Mobile has specs confirmed for its own device but sporting a 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor opposed to the 1.2GHz Samsung Exynos. If you are looking to see an in-depth benchmark comparison of the Galaxy S II Epic 4G Touch and international Galaxy S II, then head over here for the showdown. Finally, you will be pleased to hear Samsung has already released the Epic 4G Touch kernel source to the public! For this to work of course, users will need a consistent internet connection at home for Orb Live to access it via mobile. Later Sunday, we got wind that the Intel Atom E series process may support Android Gingerbread in 2012. As most devices either run a Qualcomm or Samsung chipset, Intel’s entrance into the mix will be very positive indeed. The Intel Atom has already proved to run Bluestacks, an Android emulator, on the ViewSonic ViewPad 10pro very fluidly. We were given some hands-on time with this Windows 7 slate Thursday.</div> <div style="color: #444444; font-family: Georgia, 'Bitstream Charter', serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 1.5; margin-bottom: 24px;"> GameStop has been testing an Android gaming tablet aimed at a pre-2012 launch – and of course, this tablet will most likely be an exceptional gaming device. GameStop is said to be working with developers to release wireless gaming controllers compatible with the device, to offer more comfortable gameplay. Speaking of wireless controllers, Logitech has released the Wireless Gamepad F710 for many of the tablets out there. Chris Burns officially reviewed the controller on the Toshiba THRIVE Tuesday. After putting the full sized HDMI-out locally included in the THRIVE to good use, playing video games on the big screen couldn’t be easier.</div> <div style="color: #444444; font-family: Georgia, 'Bitstream Charter', serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 1.5; margin-bottom: 24px;"> The Motorola DROID Bionic has already been spotted booting CyanogenMod 7! Though this release is no where near alpha, who would have expected CyanogenMod 7 only days after the device hit the market? CyanogenMod 7 Alpha <span class="Apple-style-span" mce_name="em" mce_style="font-style: italic;" style="color: #444444; font-family: Georgia, 'Bitstream Charter', serif; font-style: italic; line-height: 1.5;">has</span> however made it’s way onto the HTC Sensation and EVO 3D; and from user’s reviews it’s running silky smooth. Though the HTC Sensation was just released, HTC has already deemed its successor the Sensation XE official. It will pack a 1.5GHz cpu, more battery life, and Beats Audio (Beats headphones included).</div> </div> </div>

First and foremost I should mention that we’ll be liveblogging the Samsung Unpacked event on Thursday, September 1st at 11AM CET – that’s 4AM Central Standard Time, so more than likely past your bedtime. The rest of the time we’ll be having an awesome time speaking with a whole mess of other manufacturers and developers across the board.</div> <div style="color: #444444; font-family: Georgia, 'Bitstream Charter', serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 1.5; margin-bottom: 24px;"> <span style="color: #444444; font-family: Georgia, 'Bitstream Charter', serif; line-height: 1.5;"></span></div> <div style="color: #444444; font-family: Georgia, 'Bitstream Charter', serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 1.5; margin-bottom: 24px;"> Before we get any further, I must tell you why this event is called IFA instead of CEU Consumer Electronics Unlimited as their logo suggests. IFA stands for Internationale Funkausstellung Berlin (International radio exhibition Berlin, aka ‘Berlin Radio Show’) and started in 1924 when straight up radios were what you used to listen to the Green Hornet. Now it’s one of the world’s largest international consumer electronics and home appliances shows. IFA takes place September 2nd-7th and unofficially starts off with the Samsung Unpacked event the night of the 1st.</div> <div style="color: #444444; font-family: Georgia, 'Bitstream Charter', serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 1.5; margin-bottom: 24px;"> From Samsung we’ve got a whole slew of possibilities lined up, starting with Samsung’s new naming scheme revealing several new devices. That’s low on the scale of awesome. Next there’s the slightly more exciting Samsung Galaxy Q, a big ol’ phone/tablet hybrid whispered about twice now, once with a folding display. After that, there’s been a leak inside the Unpacked App which showed three devices, at least two of which we can MAYBE expect to be Android devices: Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7, Samsung Wave 3 (with Bada OS), and Samsung Galaxy Note.</div> <div style="color: #444444; font-family: Georgia, 'Bitstream Charter', serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 1.5; margin-bottom: 24px;"> For Sony we’ve got the Sony tablets, both of them having already been seen a few times, but perhaps a greater look is in order. For Toshiba there’s been a note about a ultra-thin tablet to replace the JUST RELEASED Toshiba Thrive. Toshiba Thrive Tablet only $368 At Walmart and Amazon [Deal]

Although the Acer A500 is only $299 at Target that price only comes after you use a $100 gift card you receive when you buy the tablet. The Toshiba Thrive is just $368 at Walmart, and $369 at Amazon making it a pretty sweet deal.</div> <div style="color: #444444; font-family: Georgia, 'Bitstream Charter', serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 1.5; margin-bottom: 24px;"> <span style="color: #444444; font-family: Georgia, 'Bitstream Charter', serif; line-height: 1.5;"></span></div> <div style="color: #444444; font-family: Georgia, 'Bitstream Charter', serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 1.5; margin-bottom: 24px;"> While this is only the 8GB model it still offers a great package at a good price because the Thrive is just like many other Android Honeycomb Tablets. Rocking a NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual-core CPU, 1GB RAM, and all those other impressive specs we’ve come to love. While I feel the Acer A500 16GB for $399 and a $100 gift card is a much better deal, some may prefer all the ports and options available with the Thrive.</div> <div style="color: #444444; font-family: Georgia, 'Bitstream Charter', serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 1.5; margin-bottom: 24px;"> Don’t forget to check our hands-on and unbox video if you’d like to see the Toshiba Thrive in the flesh before you head out to Walmart to purchase it. This device as you may well know is already available at your local Best Buy store in the sweet tablet area they’ve got going on, up for sale for you for one of the following prices: $429.99, $479.99, or $579.99 – the difference between these three being the hard drive of 8GB, 16GB, or 32GB. We’ve got the 16GB version on hand here and we’d just LOVE to show you around.</div> <div style="color: #444444; font-family: Georgia,'Bitstream Charter',serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 1.5; margin-bottom: 24px;"> This tablet had a cool 10.1 inch screen at 1280 x 800 pixels, it being an IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen held by a chassis at 272 x 175 x 15 mm and 771g. Right from the start you should realize that this device is not going to be entering in any weight loss contests, as its a far cry from the thinness and lightness of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 and the iPad 2, but it’s certainly not the ugliest tablet we’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting. You’ve got a 2 megapixel camera on the front, a 5 megapixel camera on the back, and some ribbed pleasure all around the sides and the back so you can hold on tight.</div> <div style="color: #444444; font-family: Georgia,'Bitstream Charter',serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 1.5; margin-bottom: 24px;"> The casing is mostly made of ribbed medium-weight (not exactly hard, not truly soft) plastic while the front is all glass save for the lights in the upper right of the screen for battery, power, and Wi-Fi signal connection as well as a couple of chrome-looking plastic bits that appear to clasp the top of the device, showing you where the cameras are. This tablet is strange in that it appears to not quite know which way it wants to be situated. Not that all tablets don’t have somewhat of an identity crisis, but this one shows all signs of being a portrait-standing tablets save for the docking port at the bottom if you’re looking at it landscape-wise. Furthermore if you’ve ever used Honeycomb you know it feels more natural to use in landscape mode, wouldn’t you say?</div> <div mce_style="text-align: center;" style="color: #444444; font-family: Georgia,'Bitstream Charter',serif;
