A few months ago I reviewed the Adonit Writer, a superb keyboard case for the iPad. The Writer was the debut product from Adonit, and it's since released an updated version for the iPad 2. Apparently Adonit was just getting started, because it's nearly ready to launch a new product, the Jot.</div>

The Jot is a capacitive touch stylus built for the iPad (and any other capacitive touch screen) that comes in two flavors, the Jot and the Jot Pro. Like the Writer it's being crowdfunded through Kickstarter.</div>

There are a lot of good styluses out there, many of them quite superb, but the Jot is a whole new take on these familiar accessories. What makes the Jot special is that it isn't using a foam tip like most other styluses; instead, it has a clear, flat, pivoting 'Precision Disk' attached on a small metal tip.</div>

It takes one of the biggest weaknesses of touch screens and drastically minimizes it. You can clearly see the center point of your strokes, and you get more feedback as you draw. I was surprised just how significant that little difference is. Unlike foam, the Jot requires almost no pressure to use and feels a lot like a really nice ballpoint pen gliding across a textureless paper.</div>

While it handles strokes wonderfully, I did find that I occasionally had trouble tapping buttons with the disk; usually it connected fine, but I found that it sometimes took a very slight movement to make sure the iPad registered the tap. After using it for a while I adapted my taps a little, and I haven't had any trouble with it since.</div>

Being so fast and precise does actually have a slight downside. I suddenly found that most of the notebook and art apps I use feel sluggish and had trouble keeping up with the Jot. Worse, some of them offset the point a little because they expect you to use your finger or something else of similar size. Despite this, I still love using the Jot everywhere I typically use a stylus; it just takes some adjustments.</div>

The good news is that Adonit is working on an app fine-tuned for the Jot. From the video it's posted, JotStudio looks really good. Besides being built for the Jot it looks like a flexible drawing program with an internal browser, support for images, web clips and PDFs, not to mention a well designed interface. JotStudio will cost US$2.99 when released, but all Kickstarter backers will get it free.</div>

With Adonit's Writer, one of the things I was really impressed with was the craftsmanship. It's every bit as evident in the Jot & Jot Pro. They are carefully designed, the materials are solid, they feel great in your hand and the weight is balanced with enough weight to keep a steady hand but light enough to be comfortable.</div>

One of the first things I tested was pulling the precision disk off like they showed in one of the demo videos. Despite the small size it takes a <span class="Apple-style-span" mce_name="em" mce_style="font-style: italic;" style="color: #444444; font-family: Georgia, 'Bitstream Charter', serif; font-style: italic; line-height: 1.5;">lot</span> of pressure to separate the disk from the main body -- way more than you'd ever encounter using it under normal circumstances -- and the protective cap keeps it safe in your pocket or bag. If it does get separated, it snaps right back on, no damage done.</div>

What's the difference between the Jot and the Jot Pro? The key components are the same. You get the same precision disk either way; the materials and size are nearly the same as well. The most prominent difference is that the Jot Pro includes a rubber grip that I find nicer to hold. The Jot Pro also has a magnet in it that can attach onto an iPad 2 when you need to put it down.</div>

Did I mention it's gorgeous? The colors available are different between the two versions. The Jot comes in green, red and purple while the Jot Pro comes in turquoise, gun metal and silver. Personally I find the Pro colors to be more appealing. The black rubber contrasts beautifully with the gun metal of the stylus I'm reviewing.</div>

The device you’re about to look at is said (again, in a conceptual universe) to be using a Graphene.SP AMOLED Natural User Interface. It’s essentially the same thickness as a few pieces of paper stacked up, and the entire device is surrounded by a Sensor Bar which somehow allows the device to have all the same communication functions as a normal smartphone would. The phone can be bent, folded, and set to stay in any position, be it set up like a folder, rolled over for a presentation, or flattened for your pocket. You can even roll it around your wrist as a watch.</div>

Set it on your desk as a clock, plug in a microSD card to hold your 10,000 apps, or use it as a boom box. The very top and the very bottom of the device are made of a harder material (plastic or metal) in order to have the device sit strong not he desk for activities such as projecting a report on the wall (yes, it’s got a projector as well,) or watching a movie. What’s best about this device? It’s running a whole new version of Android called Android Flexy, made for running around corners and through this device in a manner never conceived before.</div>

With leaked photos and even shown on Verizon roadmaps. Now we are seeing an entire accessory list for the upcoming successor to the original DROID series.</p><br/>Even looking at the top of the leaked image and not the accessory list it looks as if the Droid 3 will come with a 32GB MicroSD card included just like a few other Verizon phones of late so that is nice. On to that accessory list we see all sorts of goodies, from an extended battery over 1900 mAh to inductive charging and more, although you might want to get the HDMI cable somewhere else for cheap.<br/><br/>Motorola has been good in the past to release accessories like car docks and multimedia docks quickly along with their phones and the Droid 3 looks to be the same as I see a few of those listed as well. I wish all carriers did the same because I’d love a nice dock for a few of my Android phones sitting around. We should be hearing something official about the Droid 3 any time now and I’ve heard rumors of a July 14th release date so stay tuned for more.

Samsung has announced that its Smart View app is now ready to download for the Samsung Galaxy S2.<br/><br/>The app allows you to watch TV content on your Samsung Galaxy S2, once you link it up to the Samsung Smart TV D7000 and D8000 series.<br/><br/>Samsung is no stranger to offering TV content through mobile devices.<br/><br/>Last year it launched the Samsung Remote which allowed you to view the same TV show on your remote as was being shown on your Samsung TV. The idea was that you didn't have to pause the show – just watch it wherever you are in the house on the remote.<br/><br/>With the launch of the new D7000 and D8000 series this idea has evolved into an app which will be available for a number of Samsung devices, but on the Galaxy S2 initially.<br/><br/>Instead of having to watch the same thing, however, you can watch a completely separate channel through the app.<br/><br/><strong>Smart revolution</strong><br/><br/>"Samsung Smart TV is leading the 'smart revolution' not only with the features of Smart TV itself – such as rich content, 2D and 3D picture quality, smart functions and design – but also with input devices using our Qwerty smart remote control, the Samsung Remote app, and now with Smart View," said Guy Kinnell, Marketing Director for TV, Samsung UK.<br/><br/>Although it is initially only available to Galaxy S2 users, the app will come to the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 and Samsung Galaxy S later in the year.<br/><br/>The app is available from the Android Market now.

Review: Samsung HT-D6750W

Samsung's top-of-the-line home cinema system is frothy, feature-rich and just a bit mad. Opening the box reveals a veritable forest of shiny black plastic.<br/><br/>The HT-D6750W package comprises two slim tallboy (1.3m) stereo front speakers which bolt together in the middle, and a pair of similar tallboy rears. They're joined by a small horizontal centre and a large (but light) subwoofer, which uses a 6.5-inch woofer and 10-inch passive radiator.<br/><br/>Samsung bills this as a 7.1 channel system, but there are no extra enclosures. Instead the main stereo loudspeakers each sport a separately driven, swivelling frog eye, which aims at the ceiling (or thereabouts). That counts, apparently.<br/><br/><strong>Core components </strong><br/><br/>At the heart of the shebang is a digital amp with integrated 3D Blu-ray player, two-in, one-out HDMI functionality and Smart Hub connectivity. For those who don't have a wired network connection handy, Wi-Fi is built-in.<br/><br/>One extra nicety is that the rears are wireless. That's to say you don't need to run speaker cable from the main amp. Instead there's a module, the SWA-5000, which receives a wireless feed (dual band 2.4/5.8GHz) from a transmitter plugged into the back of the main unit.<br/><br/>The 3D Blu-ray component of this system is clearly a derivation of the brand's standalone models. Video quality is high and functions broad.<br/><br/>Samsung proudly declares the power output of its digital amplifier to be 1300W. Given that it only draws 70W at the mains, this is obvious bunkum. I suspect it's more likely to be around 25-30W per channel. This is plenty for a smaller room; during my audition I never felt the system lacked volume, only dynamics.<br/><br/>So what of the HT670's 7.1 billing? Well, this is not a 7.1 system in the traditional AV sense, but Samsung's engineers maintain the HT-D6750W takes advantage of DTS' speaker remapping function, which uses 'sophisticated algorithms to electronically reposition speakers in the living room' if they don't match the placement used during recording.<br/><br/>But, if you think you can take a panned rear sound effect, throw it from a front height driver and get the same listening experience, you're simply delusional. Playing <em>Rush Hour 3</em>, a DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 mix, there was simply no correlation between what came out of the back of a conventional 7.1 system and this front-weighted simulacrum.<br/><p style="text-align: center;"><img alt="Samsung ht-6750w" class="aligncenter" src="http://mos.futurenet.com/techradar/Review%20images/Home%20Cinema%20Choice/HCC%20197/HCC197.sam6750.wood01-420-90.jpg" width="420" /></p><br/>However, rear back/front height speakers aside, the system does a spirited job panning 5.1 multichannel audio to and fro. The audiovisual excitement of <em>TRON: Legacy</em> (3D Blu-ray) is not lost here.<br/><br/>Without a doubt, the star of this particular show is the 50Hz Super Tweeter, which delivers a crispness and clarity that lifts this entire system above the purely mundane.<br/><br/>There are caveats of course. Voice matching is a little rough, while timbre across the L/C/R is compromised because the centre speaker doesn't sound the same as the tallboys.
