As you all know by now, Sprint has been left out of the iPhone party over the past few years, due to AT&T’s exclusivity deal which only ended earlier this year. Verizon was the second carrier in the US to pick it up, and with the launch of the iPhone 4S, Sprint joined the party. And it looks like it only took a few hours to reach its milestone for best ever day of sales for a device family. Here’s what the carrier just announced:</div>

It looks like they made a good decision in picking up the iPhone this year. Now the only major carrier that has yet to pick up the iPhone will be T-Mobile (even though people have been using T-Mobile iPhones on 2G for some time now). How many of you bought an iPhone on Sprint today?</div>

Softbank customers in Japan can simply get an NFC sticker to add some contact-less payments to their iPhone 4, but most folks don't have it quite so easy just yet. There<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span><span class="Apple-style-span" mce_name="em" mce_style="font-style: italic;" style="color: #444444; font-family: Georgia,'Bitstream Charter',serif; font-style: italic; line-height: 1.5;">are</span><span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>some alternatives while you wait for Apple to hop on the NFC bandwagon, however, like this solution from<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span><span class="Apple-style-span" mce_name="em" mce_style="font-style: italic;" style="color: #444444; font-family: Georgia,'Bitstream Charter',serif; font-style: italic; line-height: 1.5;">Unplggd</span>'s Vivian Kim. It uses one of the smaller NFC-equipped credit cards now available from some banks, which is apparently just small enough to fit under the back cover of an iPhone 4 (a clear one, in this case, to show off your cleverness). And, yes, it apparently still works just fine under there -- even if you add a case on top of it.</div>

You'll recall an earlier ruling by a federal jury in Eastern Texas found the CE maker guilty of infringing upon PA's playlist-related IP with an assortment of older iPods. This new filing alleges that<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span><span class="Apple-style-span" mce_name="em" mce_style="font-style: italic;" style="color: #444444; font-family: Georgia,'Bitstream Charter',serif; font-style: italic; line-height: 1.5;">newer</span><span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>Apple devices, like the iPhone 4, iPad 2 and modern day iPods -- which weren't part of the original 2009 case -- also violate that same IP, in a move we'd surmise serves to pad Personal Audio's coffers. Not like Apple's apt to feel the pinch should Personal Audio snag another victory, but hey....</div>

A few months ago we told you about an iPhone that survived a 1000-foot fall unscathed. CNN reports that another skydiver's iPhone recently flew out of his pocket during a dive and made an uncontrolled descent to Earth -- 13,500 feet below.</div>

Skydiver Jarrod McKinney's iPhone wasn't quite as lucky in its fall as the other iPhone was; although the iPhone technically survived the fall and was still capable of receiving calls, both glass surfaces shattered. Using what CNN calls a GPS tracking app (probably Find My iPhone), McKinney located his iPhone 4 atop a two-story building half a mile from where he landed.</div>

McKinney did have his iPhone in an Incipio case, but a 2.5-mile fall is asking a bit much from<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span><span class="Apple-style-span" mce_name="em" mce_style="font-style: italic;" style="color: #444444; font-family: Georgia,'Bitstream Charter',serif; font-style: italic; line-height: 1.5;">any</span><span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>case. He plans to get the screen replaced. Meanwhile, a skydiving instructor on the same jump was so impressed that the iPhone survived its own impromptu dive that he plans to pick one up himself.</div>

For the rest of you skydivers, please either leave your phones behind or at least keep them secure inside a zipped pocket when you dive. It's amusing to read these stories and fascinating to see how much abuse the iPhone can take, but I'd really rather not have some skydiver's wayward iPhone hit me in the head at 120 miles per hour, would you?</div>
