Created with Zumobi, the new mobile application is available as a free download, courtesy of an exclusive launch sponsorship by Lincoln.<br/><br/>Zumobi made sure THE WEEK’s app looks great. Users can easily browse articles in different categories, including latest news, editor’s choice, news, business and the arts. TheWeek.com’s popular political cartoons are also available with pinch and zoom functionality, and there are also “social features,” allowing users to save and share articles (and cartoons) with friends via Facebook, Twitter and/or email.<br/><br/>Commenting on the mobile app launch, THE WEEK’s Deidre Depke (General Manager of Digital) said: “We’re delighted that our readers will now be able to access content from TheWeek.com directly from their mobile device. The application was a result of co-operation between the Board, a GIS mapping software company Esri and a Recovery Board contractor Smartronix.<br/><br/>Using the app, you can access such information as award amounts, the name of the program under which a project is funded, the recipient, and the purpose of the project. Moreover, if you see an indication of fraud, waste and abuse – there’s an option to report that information from within the app, which is cool.<br/><br/>Love the idea but I can’t understand why it’s an iOS thing, only. Sure Apple is a darling of the street these days, but Recovery.gov should be a service accessible by all U.S. citizens. In that sense, it would be better if they used some cross-platform development tool to make sure their mobile app reaches more users.<br/><br/>For the record, Congress approved the Recovery Act in February 2009. The program funds contracts, grants and loans along with entitlements and tax benefits…<br/><br/><img alt="" height="1" src="http://img703.imageshack.us/img703/6858/20583461.gif" width="1" />

What might have sounded like a dream just a few years ago is now a reality. The new iPhonECG system is a new app that uses a case that connects to the iPhone (demonstrated in the video below with an iPhone 4) and has two electrodes that are placed either at your hands or on your chest.</div>The electrodes monitor the electrical activity of your heart, just like the nodes of an actual ECG machine would, and shows the ECG right on the screen of your iPhone. It can also record the data so a doctor can refer to it later. Additionally, it can also measure your pulse, which can come in handy whenever you want to monitor your heart rate.<br /> This new hardware and software will be showcased at CES next week, and we’ll be sure to get a glimpse of it while we’re there next week. It would be interesting to see how this works and compares with 5 or 12-lead ECG machines, so maybe we’ll bring up those questions, too. According to a growing number of tweets, iPhone alarms that are set for New Year’s Day are failing to go off as scheduled. For the merry reveller with nothing to do on a Saturday, a late alarm may be a welcome relief, but for those who have to work bright and early, a delayed iPhone alarm may be the difference between getting to work late or getting there on time.<br /> Different from the Daylight Savings alarm clock bug, this latest iPhone bug reportedly does not affect recurring alarms so a temporary solution is to create a new alarm and choose multiple days for it to go off. You can also use a Calendar event or a third-party iPhone app to trigger an alarm event on your handset. Apple has not responded to this reported issue so folks are on their own to apply this temporary fix. Thankfully, this bug may be short-lived as some testing performed by 9to5 Mac suggests the iPhone will auto-fix itself on the 3rd of January.
