We could be looking a bit deep with this comment and even though it was a reply to a device update they mention “releasing” devices with Ice Cream Sandwich soon, not updating. They seem to have confirmed that the Bionic, RAZR and Xoom will all get 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich within 6 weeks of Google releasing it. We aren’t really sure if they mean they’ll actually update these devices 6 weeks after ICS launches, or if they’ll just announce dates for when the updates will actually be available. 6 weeks from the end of November is early 2012, so we should be seeing some updates or at least hearing some news by then. Just like we assumed, we are already starting to see some Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich ports hitting devices. We spotted a few yesterday and this afternoon we have a video demo of Android 4.0 running on the famous Google Nexus One. The developer mentions in the video that Wi-Fi doesn’t work, audio has some issues and stutters occasionally, video decoding isn’t working and the entire ROM is a bit unstable. While this was expected at first, it’s nice to see things already looking up for the Nexus One.</div> <div style="color: #444444; font-family: Georgia, 'Bitstream Charter', serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 1.5; margin-bottom: 24px;"> The Nexus One might be a bit old and outdated but it still receives plenty of love from the entire development community, including Google. There are tons of developers out there that still love the Nexus One and update ROMs on the daily for it, so it’s no surprise that it will be one of the first phones running on the latest 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich SDK. Until the actual source for 4.0 is released, SDK ROM’s like the one shown above will have to do. They can get quite stable and many users run them for their daily devices but I’d rather wait for AOSP ROM’s like CyanogenMod myself. New reports say Samsung will manufacture the Nexus Prime with a 1.5Ghz dual-core processor and their new Super AMOLED HD display.</div> <div style="color: #444444; font-family: Georgia, 'Bitstream Charter', serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 1.5; margin-bottom: 24px;"> ViewSonic announced a new tablet that dual-boots both Android 2.3 Gingerbread and Windows 7. This will be an excellent selling point for the business crowd out there. No longer will compatibility be an issue, with full access to the Android Market and Windows 7 executables – this may be a prime contender in the work place. Later Monday, Steve Kondik (Cyanogen himself!) was hired by Samsung Mobile as a software engineer. But have no worries, for he stated he’ll still be just as involved in bringing CyanogenMod to the many devices out there. One device recently graced with CyanogenMod 7 was the HTC Sensation 4G. The Bionic even appeared on Verizon’s home page for a very short time. The most impressive and important one is at the bottom, the GT-I9250. This could very well be the Samsung Nexus Prime. We have seen reports about the AMOLED display being ready to go in larger sizes, as well as plenty of leaks that Samsung will rock the Nexus Prime and currently trying to get Verizon to carry it.</div> <div style="color: #444444; font-family: Georgia, 'Bitstream Charter', serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 1.5; margin-bottom: 24px;"> All of this is really exciting and I can’t wait to see more. We originally heard ICS would launch around the holidays but recent rumors are saying October to compete with the iPhone 5. Then we see something like that last phone rumored for week 48 and that lines up better with initial ICS reports of a holiday release. Either way I just want to see these bad boys out in the wild already. Can you say Nexus!</div> </div> </div>
