This isn’t the first time we’ve seen the Atrix 2, but we now know that will be the official name — not the Atrix HD.</div>

The successor to the original Atrix was also spotted way back in August and was being rumored to have both an HD 720p display, and AT&T 4G LTE but these newest leaks and details have confirmed the specs. Headed soon to AT&T all of the signs are pointing to no 4G LTE. It will use 4G HSPA+ but not the new 4G LTE network that was just rolled out. This is a big mistake if you ask me, but we’ll see as the launch gets closer. Codenamed the “Edison” the specs are officially confirmed as a 4.3″ qHD 960 x 540 resolution Display, dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage (2GB micro-SD included). Featuring an 8MP camera on the rear (no hump like the Bionic) 2MP front facing video chat camera. Powered by Android 2.3 Gingerbread and the same Moto Blur UI we’ve seen plenty of lately.</div>

Also leaked was some pictures of the Atrix 2′s new Motorola Lapdock. From the initial picture it seems to be huge but we could be wrong. Looking much fatter than the Bionic Lapdock seen here. No specific details or specs were given at this time but it’s said to be 10.1″ which is smaller than the previous version, so it should be lighter and a bit more portable. There also seems to be a cable attaching to the phone for the connection rather than docking the smartphone, hopefully Motorola will streamline the design and the same dock will work with all phones in the future unlike the previous models.</div>

As the launch gets closer (cross fingers it’s not delayed again) we just keep seeing more and more of this device. This is one of the more leaked phones I’ve seen in the recent past. The folks over at TechnoBuffalo happened to get their hands on the tips and tricks guide and were nice enough to throw up all the photos for everyone. While it shows all the specs we already knew, it mentions wireless printing and “top notch” security too.</div>

With a dual-core CPU, 1GB of DDR2 RAM, a 4.3″ high-resolution display and that amazing 4G LTE most phones pale in comparison. The webtop and wireless printing we didn’t know for sure but the Atrix, Photon 4G, and Droid 3 all share the same features so this wasn’t a huge surprise. Another thing worth mentioning is the fact that it has 3 microphones for exceptional voice quality as well as noise cancellation.</div>

It’s a bit too soon to say if Google acquiring Motorola Mobility this morning will help speed up Motorola’s promised unlock method. With that in mind, I for one was happy to hear the method used to get an unlockable bootloader for the atrix might be successful for other Moto devices. The Photon is now the first device to profit.</div>

Motorola’s WiMax toting, dual-core Photon 4G (see our review) is now free to run whatever custom ROMs, recoveries and kernels devs can come up with. With the promising results I’ve seen on the Photon’s close cousin, the Atrix, with its alpha builds of CyanogenMod this already sexy phone has plenty of gain to reap from this new found freedom.</div>

This probably has little impact on you (unless you’re a developer) in the immediate future. A talented team of devs has successfully ported the beloved ROM onto America’s first dual-core smartphone, and while it’s still not ready for beta even, there is a “pre-beta” build available for the braver among you to flash and test out. The bacon is almost ready, and those of us who snuck a strip early can tell you, its going to be worth the wait.</div>

It’s been several months since the Atrix was released, and we already have rumors that a sequel is on the way. After fighting for the better part of those months for an unlocked bootloader that was finally achieved last month, devs weren’t about to give up. The Atrix Dev Team (see their github!) has been working on the port for a few weeks now, but just released their first public build yesterday under a “pre-beta” title. The build has its bugs for sure, but it shows a lot of promise and looks pretty close to being ready for nightlies.</div>

The stock Android look suits the Atrix beautifully, even with the few oddities left over as a relic of the Atrix’s qHD resolution. There was also a significant performance bump, jumping up from Quadrant scores in the low 2000s with the stock AT&T/Motorola ROM, to around 3500 with the pre-beta build. I’ve seen no real lag in my initial impressions, and I expect things to only improve as the team makes more progress.</div>

Given its current state there are plenty of bugs to be worked out though. GPS and the camera are the most obvious issues, but testers are helping report new bugs to the developers as they’re found. The build is probably not quite ready for everyday use, but it shouldn’t be too much longer until it is. Make sure you only flash this if you know what you’re doing, and as always backup first, and realize you’re taking full responsibility for your actions and any effects they have on your phone. With these warnings in mind, and a backup of your old ROM to revert to (use romracer’s CWM, with working nandroid), give it a look. Freedom is sweet.</div>

At first glance it looks like the Motorola Atrix but once you look a bit closer it is in fact different. What we have is a device branded for AT&T and sporting what appears to e a 4.3″ screen (Atrix was 4.0″) and the display seems to have contoured glass sort of like the G2x, it has a bubble look to it you can clearly see in the picture below. Is this a new screen type, could this be a 720p HD Atrix?</div>

You can see it’s running Android 2.3 Gingerbread from the top and it appears to also be running Moto’s latest attempt at a UI or Moto Blur some of you might prefer to call it. The camera has been upgraded to 8MP versus the 5MP on the Atrix and they’ve removed that fingerprint scanner that no one used anyways. From initial photos the device looks very nice, has a front facing camera and a sleek design. At least they aren’t blurrycam photos right?</div>

This is just breaking so we don’t have anything official to go on, some are reporting the screen to be a HD 720p display but with no official details we can’t really speculate too far on that. The bottom bezel is tiny and looks very similar to the HTC Sensation design. The rear cover has the same look and design as the original Atrix so that is where we are getting the Atrix 2. It may not be a huge step up from the original Atrix but Motorola is known for releasing minor upgrades like the Droid X2. If it indeed does have a different processor, possible a OMAP 4 as well as a higher resolution screen then I can see it being worth it, or maybe a super secret quad core CPU.</div>

Motorola has just updated their support page for the Motorola Atrix 4G and have officially posted the Atrix 4G Gingerbread release available for download — exciting I know. Last we heard they were in the testing phase and doing a soak test so I’m glad to report the update is available so soon.</div>

We saw this leaked back in June and it was build version 4.5.40 but this latest update available now is updated to version 4.5.91 and should have many fixes over the previous leak as well as new enhancements to the Motorola UI overlay. Checking out the release notes reveals not only Android 2.3.4 but updates to the UI, music app, gallery, they’ve updated some icons as well as cleaned up the view of the app tray just to name a few.</div>

Two big changes I see is they’ve added not only Firefox 4.0 to the device for webtop browsing but they promise much better performance and a overall better web browsing experience. The update also allows installation of 3rd party apps and you can now click the unknown sources tab in settings to download apps like the Amazon App Store.</div>

When the original Gingerbread leaked it gave users an unlocked bootloader and so far we know nothing on this latest update. Most likely the bootloader is once again locked so use caution of that matters to you.</div>
