The Dell Venue was just launched in Hong Kong slightly ahead of its launch in South Korea, which is still expected later this month. Looking very similar to the Venue Pro, minus the curved back design and slide-out keyboard, the Venue will feature a 4.1 AMOLED display with a resolution of 800 x 480.
Other hardware features of the device include a 1 GHz Snapdragon processor sporting 1GB ROM and 512MB RAM, microSD expansion slot, 8 megapixel auto focus camera with LED flash, Bluetooth, WiFi, GPS and a 1400mAh battery. The killer feature of this device is its curved AMOLED display which not only provides for great viewing angles, it is also said to feel more “natural” when swiping.

Software wise it’s running the Stage UI with a preinstalled Swype keyboard. It’s based on Android 2.2 and from early tests of the device it’s looking like a pretty smooth and solid device. The Dell Venue is on sale now for HK$3,999 (US$514).
Dell's ever-changing shipping date was last bumped back to early January, though the company itself said it was hopeful that some units will ship out this week. And guess what? At least one did. Our tipster placed his order for the 8GB Venue Pro on December 2nd, and according to FedEx's online tracking service, his shipment has been picked up from El Paso, Texas, and is currently en route to him. What say you, brave Windows Phone buyers, has your Venue Pro broken out of the warehouses ahead of its (delayed) release?

The latest official update from the boys and girls in Round Rock says that if you managed to get an order for a Venue Pro in by the 14th of this month, you're golden for receiving it before Christmas -- which is a considerably friendlier estimate than before, when some folks were being told January 6th. If you've ordered since the 14th, the company advises that you "use the Estimated Delivery Date to understand when you will receive it." Meanwhile, if your Venue Pro has already managed to leave the warehouse, we recommend you use this opportunity to gloat in this post's comments and as many forums as you possibly can.

The Venue Pro delay situation certainly isn't getting any clearer with Dell's latest update on its support forums, but we know this much for sure: the new kid on the smartphone block still has a few things to learn about shipping handsets. A post from a Dell moderator says the company is working directly with Microsoft to draft a battle plan and that current Venue Pro owners (those that got their devices early on from Microsoft stores, that is) "might require another hardware swap" to get their issues solved.
