Samsung refutes talk of Galaxy S II delays, promises April launch in at least some places

<div style="text-align: center;"><img alt="" border="0" height="225" hspace="4" src="http://img64.imageshack.us/img64/1424/11x0407n83as.jpg" style="margin: 4px;" vspace="4" width="360" /></div><br/>So yesterday we learned that Samsung's planning to speed up the dual-core Exynos processor inside its Galaxy S II to 1.2GHz, but there was also word that the handset may suffer a setback in terms of release date. Today, the company has tweeted out a two-part notice assuring us that that will not be the case and things are proceeding "as planned." April will see the first retail appearance of the 8.5mm-thick Android phone, though Samsung does advise that "it will be gradually rolled out in each market according to the local launch timetable." That sounds to us like whatever April availability we get will be in the highest priority markets and / or limited in quantity, but we'll take whatever we can get.

How to Create a Schedule Database

<P>Open your database application. Both Excel and Access have pre-programmed schedule templates, as will many others.</P><P>Find a template. In Excel 2007, click the "Office" button, click "Microsoft Online" in the "Templates" pane and type "schedule" in the search box. There you can preview various templates and look for an appropriate one. In older versions of Excel, choose "New" under the "File" menu to get to the "Templates" section. For Access users, there is a heading labeled "Template Categories." By clicking on "Featuring," you will be directed to Microsoft Office Online, where you can search for an appropriate template. Make sure that the template you are choosing is noted as being for your software.</P><P>Download and open the template. In both applications, you will then have to download the template by pressing "Download," after which it will automatically open in the application.</P><P>Enter data. You can personalize the fields and the data. Double-click on an individual cell. You can then highlight and erase any existing text and type in your choice of text.</P><P>Customize the schedule. You can also modify the characteristics of the schedule, such as the font and background color. Place your cursor over a cell and right-click. A menu will appear. Choose "Format Cells" and a menu box will appear with different tabs. Choose "Font" to change the type, color or size of the font. Other tabs will allow you to shade in the cell and make other changes.</P><P>Save your schedule. You can do this in newer versions of Excel and Access by clicking the "Save" button that has a picture representing a floppy disk at the top of the application. In earlier versions, choose the "Save" option under the "File" menu. Alternatively, you can press the "Control" and "S" keys together anytime you are working on your schedule.</P>

Microsoft pays WP7 developers ahead of schedule

<img src="http://cdn.mos.techradar.com/classifications/Mobile%20Phones/HTC/HTC%20HD7-200-200.jpg"> <br /><P>Microsoft has announced changes to the development process for applications for its <a href="">Windows Phone 7</A> platform.</P><br /><P>Developers that have created applications for the new phone OS since October will be paid in January, ahead of the previously announced February schedule.</P><br /><P>Admittedly, it's only the last week in January, but we're used to writing about delays when it comes to phones, so a win's a win.</P><br /><P><STRONG>Month by month</STRONG></P><br /><P>Todd Brix on the <a href="http://windowsteamblog.com/windows_phone/b/wpdev/">Windows Phone Developer Blog</A> said: "After January 2011, developer payouts will be processed on a monthly basis for all combined sales of Windows Phone 6.x and Windows Phone 7 apps for those developers who meet the minimum payout threshold limits."</P><br /><P>Other changes include upgrades to allow ad-enabled apps using the XNA framework, which means it will be easier to put advertisements in more graphic-rich environments.</P><br /><P>The app registration process has also been streamlined, which Microsoft says is now yielding a two-day approval rate for 91 per cent of developers.</P>
