Can Internet Security Software Alone Prevent Identity Theft? - Change IP For Full Protection

Identity theft is a very vicious and life altering crime. It is the fastest growing and biggest crime in America surpassing even drug trade. Identity theft intrusions can come from a variety of sources and places where you hang out on the internet. Even some of our favorite sites like Face Book and My Space are not scam proof and you can very easily lose your personal information on the internet in a variety of ways.

The dangers of identity theft are accentuated with rapid growth of wireless communications such as the Wi-Fi. What once appeared to be a harmless and time efficient activity, browsing the net or checking your email in your favorite book store, library, coffee shop or in hotels while on travel has turned out to be extremely dangerous because you can very easily lose your personal information. There are countless identity thieves with wireless snifters around these places trying to get your credit card number, social security number, any identifying information and even the IP address of your computer.

However, due to extensive coverage in the media most people are now getting serious about preventing Identity Theft. Most, computers come with one of the many Internet Security Software available in the market place today. What started as software to protect computers from viruses has grown into very elaborate and complex suite of security features. These days top Internet security software come with features that stop viruses, spy ware and computer hacking attempts; set parental controls and even alert you of phishing attempts. They come with parental controls, advanced firewall options and even network monitoring for wireless networks. Some of them even have tools to clean up accumulated unwanted files and clutter and cookies from the internet, erase traces of personal information and surfing history. Some of the latest features introduced in top internet security software now include some form of Identity Theft Protection measures such as password protection and authentication of trusted sites.

Are these measures enough and fool proof? Certainly not. It is a long way from a total secure environment. There are two things that come in the way. Browser security and router security. It is important to keep your computer updated with latest updates and security patches of its operating system (mostly Windows) and browser (Internet explorer and others). Both of these concerns are being addressed better than in the past but still pose a great deal of vulnerability. Hackers have the ability to find vulnerabilities and can beat firewalls. So it is far from a secure system.

The second point of vulnerability is the router security in a networked computer. But it is also one of the most overlooked and perhaps the best methods of protecting your computer from intrusion and your self against identity theft on the internet.

It is the router which assigns an IP address to the computer linked to the net. IP address is a unique identifying numerical tag for each computer device linked to a network or the internet. It is this address that gets logged on and identified whenever you are connected to the internet. Your browsing history at your ISP (Internet Service Provider) can trace all your internet activity. You can use the router to change your IP and you can make the connection secure by built in encryption capabilities of the router.

However, topping all these security measures is the introduction of IP Changer software that rapidly change IP by using a number of proxy servers at many different locations. By routing your internet connection through these anonymous proxies, the sites you visit will get one of many IP addresses other than your own, thus hiding your real IP address from potential hackers and identity thieves. These software and anonymous proxies have become very efficient and send your data in encrypted form without noticeable drop in internet connection performance. Thus Rapid IP change with the help of the new IP changer software allow you anonymous surfing that in combination with data encryption and most advanced Internet Security Software suites provide the most comprehensive shield against Identity Theft as of now.

It is remarkable how a simple idea to Change IP and well established encryption technology can bring us a safer and more secure internet connectivity and protect us against Identity Theft more comprehensively than the best Internet Security software alone.

20 things we'd change about OpenOffice.org

OpenOffice.org is a huge lumbering beast.

Don't get us wrong, we like it in principle and the practice is steadily getting better, but there's still room for improvement.

Here are 20 things we'd change about it to make it better.

01. Improve the loading speed

This is almost a standing joke, but OpenOffice.org does take a while to load. It isn't a big issue when you're spending a fair amount of time on one document, but the delay is annoying when you just want to open an email attachment or make a quick change.

02. Learn to celebrate its differences

An alternative program doesn't have to look like its competitors. For instance, Firefox is used as an alternative to Internet Explorer even though, or perhaps because, it doesn't look and feel like Microsoft's browser. OpenOffice.org could follow this example and promote itself as a genuine competitor to Word – one that's better because it's proud to be different, instead of following Microsoft's lead so closely.

03. Implement grammar checking

It's inconceivable for a word processor to be released without a spellchecker these days, so why is it that OpenOffice.org is still unable to check for even the most basic of grammatical errors in our text? It's not about getting the software to write for you – a check is really helpful when your brain outruns your fingers.

04. More modular loading

Part of the problem with OpenOffice.org's loading speed is that it tries to load too much. If you load a document for word processing, you probably won't need all of the features provided and you certainly don't want them all immediately. What's more, it's highly unlikely you'll need other office components at the same time, so why waste time and resources loading so much up front?

05. The name

It may be a little unfair to criticise this now, but the name is rather geeky. Yes, we know the developers would rather have called it Open Office, but that name was already trademarked in a few countries. We also accept that we're stuck with it for now, but a little more effort early on could have resulted in a better moniker (and we don't mean LibreOffice).

06. Give OOo better competition

This may sound odd, but OpenOffice.org really needs some strong competition. Nothing focuses developers on improving their product like another one doing the job better. For instance, KOffice answers so many of the criticisms levelled at OpenOffice.org, but it's just not as good at the core tasks. If it were, it would be a real wake-up call for OpenOffice.org.

07. PDF importing

OpenOffice.org boasts a PDF-importing extension, but all it does is import a PDF page as a single image into Draw. Note to developers: if you're going to claim your program has PDF importing capabilities, please do try to make them more useful. Even simple editing and re-exporting as a PDF would be a big step forward, especially when you need to complete PDF forms.

08. The overall image

What is OpenOffice.org? Is it an office suite for people who are too cheap to buy a 'proper' one from Microsoft? Or is it a powerful set of programs in its own right? It should be seen as the latter, but too many people view it only as a second-rate alternative that's justified by the price alone. This needs to be improved, even though changing people's perceptions isn't easy.

09. Faster loading speeds

Did we mention this already? It seems that one or two users are bothered by OpenOffice.org's lengthy startup times, so maybe someone could have a look? Incidentally, a built-from-source installation on Gentoo gets going noticeably faster than the pre-built binaries from OpenOffice.org, so eking out more speed is possible.

10. Integration

Desktop integration is improving, but an OpenOffice.org window can still look like an interloper on your beautifully homogeneous desktop. We reckon OpenOffice.org is still generally better than the native alternatives on either of the main desktops – it just needs to look more like it belongs.

11. Building from source

Yes, binaries are available, but this is an open source project, so we should be able to compile the source. Yet building OpenOffice.org from source can be a tricky process, one that can progress for a couple of hours and then fail because the wind is blowing in the wrong direction. Sure, it's much faster than it used to be, but the fragility of the build process makes us a little nervous about the end result.

12. Cross-application cut and paste

Why can't we select some cells on Calc and then paste the contents into Writer as text? It's another curious omission from OOo's feature list. Crazy as it may sound, though, we don't always want an OLE object embedded in a letter; sometimes we just want a table of numbers that can be edited after pasting.

13. Keep it simple

It seems that if there are two ways of doing something, OpenOffice.org always goes for the most complex. OK, so the most complex is often also the most flexible, but this is supposed to be productivity software. The fastest, easiest option is often the most productive. At least give the user a choice in these cases, eh?

14. More extensions

One of the strengths of Firefox, another beacon of the open source community, is that there are thousands of extensions available for it. OpenOffice.org comes with just three and less than 150 are available for downloading from the project's website. That's a shame, because a greater set of useful extensions would give OpenOffice.org a real edge over the competition.

15. Improve macro recording

Computers are supposed to make life easier by automating repetitive tasks, which is what macros help you do. So why is recording and using macros such a fiddly and error-prone process? A Record and a Playback button on the toolbar should be all that's needed for simple macro use, complementing the more complex usage that's currently supported.

16. Fix some bugs

OpenOffice.org's issue tracker (does calling them issues instead of bugs make them seem like less of a problem?) currently has around 14,500 open defect reports. Many of these are small problems, but that's still a lot of bugs – sorry, issues. What's more, there are also 9,500 feature and enhancement requests.

17. Pop-up help

What OpenOffice.org really needs to succeed in the modern office environment is an irritating animated character that pops up from time to time with tangentially helpful advice or annoying questions. If there's one thing we have learned in the 21st century, it's that true productivity isn't possible without such a character. Why else would companies prefer to spend thousands on Microsoft Office instead of OpenOffice.org?

18. Better extension management

Simply making extensions possible, or even available to the user, is not enough. OpenOffice.org needs a decent extension manager where we can browse, search and install extensions from the range available, not just a dialog that asks for an extension file.

19. Not everything

Before you get the idea that this is a heartless tirade against OpenOffice.org, there's a lot we wouldn't change about the suite. Frustrations in bad software are easy to cope with – simply switch to a better program – but when the software is basically good, the annoyances are amplified. Recent versions have been much improved, but there's still a long way to go.

20. Faster loading

We've probably mentioned this before, but it's so easy to lose your train of thought while waiting for the program to load. This change really is a must.

Article

Guidelines to Ensure a Smooth Change in the IT Department

It is important to keep in mind a few guidelines while updating your existing IT department, recruiting in a new workforce or making technological changes. Making these changes efficiently can help your employees to continue working effectively with no negative effects on their productivity levels. Below is a list that can be studied and the guidelines incorporated for an even transition.

1) The first step is to make a list of the passwords relating to every area in the IT department. It is vital to do so when you are changing the IT support team so that the vendor that is no longer going to be working with you does not have access to your systems. Only the new team that comes in should be familiar with the new passwords to operate your systems. Everything that requires a password should be carefully examined and then changed while switching over to a new team.

2) When big changes are being made, it may be possible that sometimes the day to day working of the company gets affected. This should not be the case and the requisite steps should be taken so that your company continues to work efficiently and the profits are not affected. Everything that was being performed by the employees of the IT department should be noted down and for the time being this work should be performed by someone else temporarily so that the overall working of the organisation is not hindered in any manner. All systems should continue to work smoothly without breakdowns.

3) It is very important during this time to be careful about there not being any kind of leak in the database of your company. All customer records as well as the other records of the company should be closely monitored and guarded. Privacy should not be compromised in any way and firewalls, anti-virus and anti hacking softwares should be kept in place in order to prevent leaking out of confidential information that may cost you dear.

4) A specialist firm should be hired who can guide you step by step in the process of making changes in your IT support services. They are the best people to preside over this process as they have the necessary experience to go through with such transitions. They are familiar with the problems related to making major changes and can help prevent them even before they occur. Hiring an external party can be a little costly but in the long run, these costs are justified as you will not have to spend later on in finding solutions to problems that may arise without their help.

5) All kinds of data that pertains to the outgoing IT firm and also the incoming one should be properly maintained and updated. The new firm that you have hired should be competitive enough to be able to serve the interests of your company. Important information should be studied like whether they respond to customer grievances and problems in a timely manner and resolve them successfully.

Philips Taylor Brown offers IT support in the Nottingham area, tailored to suit the needs of any business. Change Your IP Address, Change Your Identity

These days, it's nothing special to have one's own Internet connection at home. After all, this is just another commodity we need to be able to pay our bills, communicate with our bosses, to shop and even to find romance. The Internet is also, by far, this era's most advanced and effective tool in enriching oneself with this power called information.

The whole prospect of being empowered by this technology is definitely a positive development. However, it will not come without a part of society abusing it. It surely won't be a pleasant experience finding out that you are being observed or watched remotely while visiting a certain web page or website.

Once your IP is out in the open and once your Internet behavior is established based on your online activities, you will now become an easy victim of hacking. You will only be surprised to know that as you boot your computer one morning, it won't even boot at all. And you won't have the slightest idea that your system has just been hacked because a hacker out there now knew about your IP address and thought it was exciting to send over some fatal strains of computer viruses.

What's scary is that there are legitimate companies out there with a whole department tasked to place cookies in web pages so when you visit these web pages, you computer stores these cookies and your subsequent visits will hereon be trackable. This can be an advantage to you to some extent because cookies cut the time you need to load those pages you frequent and you'll even get to store information such as your username and password so you don't have to retype them each time you log in to a certain website.

The problem is, cookies give out information about you and next thing you know, you're getting all these emails from companies that you haven't even heard about in your whole life. And then you wonder how they got your email address. This is obviously the work of cookies. They are tools that enable these companies to get your personal information, interests, location and Internet activities just by tracking the websites and pages that you log on to.

This is a perfect scenario that should explain why it's important that you hide you IP address when you surf the net. Your IP address is a series of numbers that serves as your identification code when doing online activities such as sending email, chatting, researching or even having a VoIP call. This IP address also happens to be the only way that unscrupulous companies or individuals could actually get to you and advance their malicious interests.

If you don't want to deal with any of these problems, the only solution that works is getting an IP address changer. When you hide your IP address, nobody knows you're actually there because you're using another IP address. It would be practically as though you were a ghost on the Internet, although you're actually there. Anti-virus software may work but everyday, new viruses are created, therefore, it would be too much for a busy person to keep updating his antivirus pogram just to be sure that his PC is protected.

By getting a hide IP download , you can instantly change your IP address and start protecting yourself with a fake online identity.

By getting a hide IP download, you can instantly change IP and start protecting yourself with a fake online identity.

IP Change For Enhanced Online Banking Security

By frequent IP Change you can make your online banking more secure. More and more business and a variety of transactions are conducted online these days. Amongst many financial transactions, online banking is growing faster than expected. Businesses and consumers both are using the internet for shopping, banking and financial management. The current internet security suites are not adequate protection against online theft and fraud. New technology using a simple idea of IP change along with data encryption give much more robust and secure online banking environment.

Use of internet has made banking efficient and convenient. However, it has at the same time introduced a great amount of risk of online theft and fraud which has been growing equally fast. Internet is inherently an insecure platform because you are simultaneously connected with world. Computer viruses, spy ware, mal ware, key loggers and a variety of other security threats have been there almost from the beginning of the widespread use of the internet. There are brilliant but deviant programmers that seem to be one step ahead of the internet security industry. So it is a constant battle between the intruders and the security experts. In spite of the advances made in browser security and internet security suites that include fire walls, anti virus, anti-spy ware and even identity theft protection software nevertheless it is not adequate to fully protect yourself when banking online.

Computer hackers are quite adept at breaching the firewall and once breached they can obtain your financial records, login passwords and account numbers. While online they can penetrate your network and intercept the data you send over the internet. It is especially so if your using unsecured wifi internet connection in spite of the best Internet security software.

In order to make online banking safer one needs to take all the protection and safety precautions that are already well known, such as hacker proof passwords, frequent change of passwords and keeping your browser, operating software and internet security software updated. Having done that one needs to look at most vulnerable points that could be safeguarded for enhanced security.

In order for hackers and online banking thieves to penetrate your computer system they need to know your computer's IP address, short for Internet Protocol Address. IP address is a six digit identifying number that is unique to your computer and gives out your exact location on the net. This address is assigned by your ISP (internet service provider). If this address can be hidden from others on the net you are that much more safer on the net. New technology has come in the market that allows you to make rapid IP Change. This is done by using several proxy servers with entirely different IP addresses. With the help of software (IP Changer) you can route internet connection through these remote proxy servers and change them frequently. So whenever you are connected to the internet no body sees your actual IP address. It is one of the addresses of the Proxy servers others see thus effectively hiding your IP address. You are thus able to surf the internet anonymously and securely. For additional and crucial security the data is encrypted so that it can not be hacked between your computer and the proxy server connection.

So when banking online you are securely connecting to the proxy server and then on to secure servers of the bank. When you are submitting log in information or your private identifying information such as social security number and financial information it is all done securely and anonymously. This is extremely valuable and important when banking from public locations such as libraries, book stores or hotels where unsecured networks such as the wifi are used.

All though there is perhaps never going to be absolute fool proof security this is as close to one as one can get with the currently available technology. It is this small but effective idea of IP change that makes it possible.

Now that you have found some valuable insight into online banking security issues go to http://www.change-ip-proxy.com to get an in depth information about systems that allow automatic IP change for secure online banking and more.

How Do I Change My IP Address? Surfing Anonymously And Protecting Your Online Identity

How do I change my IP address and stay anonymous while surfing the World Wide Web? That is one of the primary concerns of internet users whose major fear is how to protect their personal details. Your privacy has a higher stake than it was some few years back. All it takes for your privacy to be invaded is someone with a bit of skills and techniques on the internet. Not even your personal files and precious data are secured when you are exposed to some potentially dangerous websites. Hackers can make your computer vulnerable; and those files tagged as "confidential" can be hacked into or even stolen. Did you know that all these can be made possible by exposing your internet protocol address? If you do not safeguard your IP address, and allow it to get into wrong hands, you might as well start preparing to kiss your precious data goodbye. ?

I asked myself the above question (how do I change my IP address?) the very first time I got into trouble with some files on my system. This question led to so many other questions and observations; especially on how to secure my IP. Over the years, many internet gurus have developed a lot of top class technologies that enable internet users surf safely on the Web. There are quite a number of ways by which identity thefts can be reduced, and even stopped completely. Some rely on some extra security features installed on their web browser, while others install state-of-the-art anti virus software on their systems. All these extra security features are good, but far from being the best when it comes to securing your online activities. None of these methods can help you surf anonymously on the internet.?

One of the most commonly used methods people use to hide their internet protocol address is a proxy website. When I wanted an answer to my question (how do I change my IP address?), one of the services I used to secure my IP was a proxy website. These websites are cost-free, but highly risky in terms of security. They are also slow because of the enormous amount of advertisements placed on them by their owners. Apart from the ads, they also take a longer time to load pages of some highly secured websites. ?

Unarguably the most consistent way to surf anonymously on the internet is through IP changing software. These programs are cheap, and can be downloaded and installed on your system without any technical knowledge. The best part of it is that your internet and computer speed will not be affected by installing this software. It is better than a free proxy website because it does not affect the speed of how any site you visit loads. ?

Want to surf anonymously to protect your identity online from hackers and identity thieves? CLICK HERE!

Visit Changing Your IP for more useful tips and reliable tools to enjoy safe anonymous internet browsing
