Vista DVD Is Not Working on My Toshiba

Clean the DVD with a soft cloth. Use a DVD cleaning solution as well. Try the DVD again to see if that made a difference. Test the Vista DVD in another PC. Double-click on the DVD drive to open the installation, but do not complete the installation process. Exit out of the installation window by clicking the "X" in the upper-right of the window. If the other PC does not recognize the DVD or if it encounters an error when you try to run the installation, the DVD is most likely corrupt and needs replacing. If it at least begins the installation process, the problem may be with your DVD drive. Check your Toshiba's DVD drive by putting another DVD in it. Insert a DVD movie double-click on the drive. If it does not run properly, or if you do not see the DVD drive displayed, then your drive may need to be fixed or replaced. Update Windows (see Resources). For Windows Vista or 7, click "Start," "Control Panel," then double-click "Windows Update," and click "Check for updates" in the left pane. Update your computer. Locate your computer's <a href="">family</A> name and model number. This information is located on a sticker on the back or bottom of your computer. The family name options are Qosmio, Satellite, mini notebook, Satellite Pro, Portege, libretto and Tecra. Go to the Toshiba downloads website (see Resources). Drill down through the menus, supplying your computer's family name and model number. Locate the most up-to-date DVD drivers for your Toshiba computer. Find the driver more quickly by using the drop-down menus next to "Refine search by" and selecting your operating system and specifying that you want the DVD drivers. Click on the drivers for the DVD drive. This will pop up additional information. Click on the "Download Now" button. Save the drivers anywhere you want. Navigate to wherever you downloaded the file to and double-click on it. Follow the on-screen prompts to install the driver. Restart your computer. Connect an external DVD drive to your computer. Plug the drive into the wall for power and then plug it into a USB port on your computer. Turn on the DVD drive if it has a power switch. Allow Windows to automatically install drivers from <a href="">the Internet</A>. If Windows cannot find the drivers, visit the support section of the manufacturer's website and search for that DVD drive's model number. Then download the driver file and double-click it to install. Reset your computer. Insert a DVD movie into the DVD drive and double-click on the drive in "My Computer." This is to test the drive and ensure it is functioning properly. If the movie does not play, turn the drive off and on, and reinstall the drivers. Remove the DVD movie and insert the Vista DVD into the drive. Double-click the drive to begin using the Vista DVD. If the disc still will not run properly, then it is defective. The player requires Windows XP, Vista or 7, the Microsoft .NET framework 3.5 SP1 (<a href="http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=ab99342f-5d1a-413d-8319-81da479ab0d7&displaylang=en">available here</a>), Bonjour for Windows (included with iTunes or the <a href="http://support.apple.com/kb/DL999">Bonjour Services for Windows</a>) and QuickTime (<a href="http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/">available here</a>). Once installed, users can stream video or music from their iPad, iPhone or iPod touch straight to a Windows PC.

Of course, with each new operating system comes some criticism. · One of the best and newest advantages of Windows Vista is its new security features. Windows Vista provides great security features that help to prevent people from hacking into your system. If you try to do certain sensitive actions, it will ask you for a password. This will help to prevent people from entering your system without permission. · The new version of Internet Explorer in Windows Vista has also upgraded its security features. It has new filters and parental controls to keep you safe while you are surfing online. Windows Vista also sports a new robust anti-spam guard. This is called Windows Defender, and it will help keep you safe from spyware and adware that can slow down your system. · Windows Vista's security features aren't the only new advantages to the operating system. There is also a new, more visual, user interface with Windows Vista. Microsoft has called this Windows AERO. The AERO stands for authentic, energetic, reflective, and open. It is a new 3D interface making it easier to use. All the new graphics in Windows Vista will really take advantage of the new technology they have added to the operating system. · Windows Vista makes it easy to set up small business offices to large mega corporations. It does this using its new imaging technology. Using this new Windows Vista technology, it has become more cost effective to switch an entire office over to the new operating system. · Microsoft has also made it easier to use applications on Windows Vista. With its improved peer-to-peer sharing, as well as .NET framework, it has become easier to use a variety of applications. · Windows Vista provides new levels of stability as well. Its new driver system makes access and using most program drivers more stable. They have designed a sort of two-tier system which can help prevent crashes. The new Windows Vista system also will detect driver problems as soon as they occur, and the program will restart it automatically without having to reboot the entire system. · Another great new feature to Windows Vista is a feature called sleep. It takes the best qualities of hibernate and standby and combines them into one. With sleep, in Windows Vista, you can quickly and easily temporarily stop your computer without having to shut the whole thing down. This is also a great energy saving tool embedded in Windows Vista as well. · A new program called SuperFetch allows for Windows Vista to access and load programs faster. No more wait times. SuperFetch with Windows Vista uses a new intelligent proprietary system based around the programs you use often. It pre-loads these files or programs into its memory so it can launch them faster. This eliminates the slow response after rebooting your computer with Windows Vista. · In the past, if your computer started to run slowly, it was usually an issue with your RAM (random access memory). After that, you would have to remove the RAM and add more to fix the problem. This can void warranties, or it can just become a hassle, especially if you don't know what you are doing. With Windows Vista, you can now plug in a USB drive or flash drive, and Windows Vista will use that to help boost its performance. No more rebooting, or having to buy new RAM chips with this OS. There are many new advantages to Windows Vista. They have put a lot of effort into making an operating system that everyone will enjoy, and that is easy to use. Can it really be possible? Windows Vista, the newly released operating of Microsoft, is vulnerable to hacking? Yes, you heard it right. It is possible, according to Microsoft itself. Well, it appears that an audio podcast has the capability of hacking Windows Vista's speech recognition feature. By using recorded audio commands, hackers can run malicious programs.Based on an initial investigation conducted by Microsoft, Vista's speech recognition feature can allow an attacker to execute commands verbally on a user's computer. The commands, however, are limited to the rights of a certain logged on user. Any commands on the administrative level will be barred by the User Account Control.Microsoft explains that the hacking can done when the user has a microphone and speakers connected to his or her computer with the speech recognition feature configured. Once these exist, the audio file of an attacker could issue verbal commands through the system's speakers which could be executed by the speech recognition feature. With this flaw, it is possible for a podcast or any other audio file for that matter to delete documents of a Vista user and empty the trash. Users are advised to disable speech recognition within Vista.Microsoft assures its customers that it is continuously looking into the issue and will provide more guidance to protect them. To avoid this attack, Vista users are advised to take several steps. First is to turn off their computer speakers and microphone. The next thing to do is to close the Windows Media Player, turn off the speech recognition feature and restart the computer if the user runs an audio file that tries to execute commands on their system. A user can disable speech recognition by going to the speech recognition options and unchecking "run speech recognition at startup." While there, a user can also disable the default speech profile for the system. This is to avoid the risk of outside voices and noise being recognized as valid for input instead of the user's own voice.The recent launching of Microsoft Vista is the biggest ever in the history of Microsoft. Basically, I will give you everything you need to know so you don't make the mistake of buying software you can't use.
