Will roll out 3000 units from next month to reduce the waiting period.

Mahindra to ramp up XUV500 production

Mahindra & Mahindra will increase production of their flagship vehicles XUV500 from the next month. The production will be upped to 3000 units a month, which is currently around 2000 units. Mahindra wants to further increase the capacity, but it will require more time as the component manufacturers will also have to increase supply in proportion. The company intends to manufacture 4,000-5,000 units of XUV500 per month by July.

The utility car major received over 25,000 booking for the XUV500 in the second phase and will allot only 7,200 units through a lucky draw. The SUV currently has a waiting period of three to five months which is expected to go down a bit with the added capacity, and also the next phase of booking will open a little sooner.
