We first saw the HTC Holiday when a prototype model was leaked to the interwebz and was being sold online with a cracked screen. Thankfully we could still read the screen well enough to make out the very awesome specs of the upcoming smartphone. It will have a 1.2 Ghz dual-core CPU, a large 4.5″ qHD high resolution display, Android 2.3 Gingerbread and even 4G LTE. All that is explained in the leaks above.</div>

HTC Raider is what we are now seeing as the official name. We’ve seen the name “raider” before in this leaked HTC Trademarks document so it appears those all might actually be coming here soon. This should be one of the first 4G LTE smartphones to hit AT&T and we’ve also heard the name HTC Waikiki but most likely that is the AT&T internal codename. Hopefully we hear more details on the HTC Raider and we will be sure to bring them to you as they come in.</div>

HTC has announced on its UK Facebook page that it will be having another user event where anyone can come by and check out what HTC has to offer. The user event will be on September 1 from 6:30 to 11:00 pm in London. HTC does point out that you have to RSVP and the event is first come, first serve with limited space. I suspect it will fill up fast, not only because there may be new hardware there to check out either.</div>

There will also be free food and drinks so you can bet it will fill up fast. The event is open only to those 18 and over. What do you think? The new version of YouTube is v2.2.14 and brings with it some much needed changes and enhancements I think everyone can appreciate. You can now edit the title, description, and privacy info right on your mobile device. They have also fixed up the user interface for when users are uploading videos. One of the bigger improvements is we can now create/edit/delete playlists on the go right from the app.</div>

While the new Touch Wiz UX brings plenty of new features, users might like to know that the upgrade will be permanent. The update will come OTA starting tomorrow and users will be able to quickly update and try out the new features. The bad part here is if you don’t like the new changes you will NOT be able to reverse or disable the new user interface. Once you update you are stuck with it. Now we aren’t saying you wont like it, because it brings some awesome new things to the Tab but it may not be for everyone.</div>

Hardware that already had Lion on it, can be sold and the license transfers with it. You can restore the machine to its virginal state and sell it off. The new user should be able to use the recovery partition to re-install the OS whenever needed. Your e-mail should not be involved.</div>

That process does not seem to involve any user authentication. The hardware likely checks in with some kind of central Apple database that associates the machine ID with shipped-with-Lion install, but Apple is being closed lipped as usual in disclosing how the eligibility is determined. Auntie guesses it's the hardware identity.</div>

So as far as Apple is concerned, you still "ship with DVDs" but you also need to downgrade to the original OS. That means completely wiping the drive to remove the recovery partition as well as experiencing all the joys of an OS re-install from DVD.</div>

When you ship a dongle along with a newly dongle-installed machine, you ensure that the new user can start fresh and will have a full license of their own. (Do make sure to send the original install DVDs as well.)</div>

<p style="text-align: center;"><img alt="" class="aligncenter" height="90" src="http://img695.imageshack.us/img695/3020/main200200.jpg" width="120" /></p><br/>When IE head Dean Hachamovitch announced the first platform preview of IE 10 at the MIX conference in April he said further preview releases would be "between 8 and 12 weeks apart".<br/><br/>Platform Preview 2 arrives after 11 weeks and adds features for web apps, including Drag-drop and File Reader; so you can drag objects around on a web page - look for a magnetic fridge poetry demo on the IE test drive site soon - or drag files into browser windows to upload them and have that happen in the background.<br/><br/>File access is possibly the first feature from the HTML5 Labs previews to make it into IE.<br/><br/>PP2 also gets the web workers spec. Rob Mauceri, the lead program manager on the IE team, calls that "a popular request from developers" (we count it as the most common request in the IE blog after Flebox, which arrived in PP1) and it's going to make a big difference to the performance of web apps – and maybe your battery life.<br/><br/>With web workers, a web app can shift some code to a thread running in the background – so a game can be working out the next turn without slowing you down while you play (usually the JavaScript for that would slow down what you're doing).<br/><br/>This should work particularly well in IE because of the way the Chakra JavaScript engine can split code across multiple cores (and Microsoft's latest figures say that as of March 2011, the average PC has 2.4 cores).<br/><br/>Other browsers already support web workers, although Firefox 5 does not allow messages sent through a direct 'channel' between different pieces of background code which Microsoft says explains why PP2 does better than Firefox at its new Bellagio Fountain test drive demo.<br/><p style="text-align: center;"><img alt="IE10" class="aligncenter" height="161" src="http://img840.imageshack.us/img840/2152/bellagioff5242090.jpg" width="252" /></p><br/><strong>FASTER:</strong> <em>IE10 gets Web workers after other browsers…</em><br/><p style="text-align: center;"><img alt="IE10" class="aligncenter" height="268" src="http://img52.imageshack.us/img52/929/bellagioff5142090.jpg" width="420" /></p><br/><strong>FIREFOX 5:</strong> <em>…Microsoft says Firefox is slower at this test because it doesn't have message channels</em><br/><br/>PP2 is the first browser to support three new performance APIs, including the Page Visibility setting that the Chrome team has been suggesting web sites use to check if a page is in a background or tab or a minimised window.<br/><br/>"If a web app is pinging the server for data it could be doing a lot of work and increasing the cost of running that server, none of which is needed because the window isn't visible to the user," Mauceri explained.<br/><br/>The IE team confirmed that IE10 PP2 is "the same HTML5 engine seen in the recent public "Windows 8" demos". Cameras and wands may be the game controllers <i>du jour</i>, but it seems there's still room in the world for virtual reality experiences a bit more concrete -- like these buckets, filled with water, that let their user physically paddle through a digital dreamscape. "Channels" uses a pair of flex sensors attached to plastic spoons to monitor the flow in each bucket as a projector throws the minimalist 3D environment up on a nearby wall. Meanwhile, "Cadence Chair" uses an antique rocking chair outfitted with an accelerometer to align ribbons of light, and if you do it in the right rhythm it plays a hidden video. Both are student projects from New York University's Interactive Telecommunications Project, and as you'll see in videos after the break, both look pretty darn cool. We're having this sudden urge to go back to school.<br />
