Cheap iPad deals launching 3 December

<img src="http://cdn.mos.techradar.com/classifications/computing/mobile-computing/Tablets%20and%20touchscreens/apple-ipad1-200-200.jpg"><br /><P>Orange and T-Mobile will begin selling subsidised <a href="http://www.techradar.com/reviews/pc-mac/laptops-portable-pcs/laptops-and-netbooks/apple-ipad-3g-692465/review">iPads </A>from 3 December as they bid to cash in on the Christmas rush.</P><br /><P>Select Orange customers started receiving emails last night offering them the chance to order their new iPad for £199 on a two year deal, with delivery coming on Friday.</P><br /><P>Alternatively, they could go and pick it up in store on the Friday having pre-ordered and apparently there will be limited stock for all others looking to get their hands on the new deals.</P><br /><P><STRONG>An iPad is for life – well, two years</STRONG></P><br /><P>We've checked out T-Mobile's site as well, and it appears the same situation is happening for the pink network: going to the <a href="http://www.t-mobile.co.uk/shop/ipad/buy-now/">'Buy an iPad' section</A> yields an option to buy it now, but "allow up to two days for delivery".</P><br /><P>So if you're after an Apple tablet but don't want to fork out hundreds of pounds up front, then best get camping outside an Orange shop soon – we reckon these will be snapped up pretty quickly.</P>

Intel Sandy Bridge CPU launching at CES 2011

<img src="http://cdn.mos.techradar.com///classifications/computing/upgrades-and-peripherals/processors/images/intel-ces-2007-200-200.jpg"><br /><P>Intel has confirmed it is to launch its latest generation of chips, the <a href="http://www.techradar.com/news/computing-components/processors/intel-sandy-bridge-what-you-need-to-know-710167">Sandy Bridge</A> processor, at CES 2011.</P><br /><P>According to Electronista, invites have been sent out which confirm that Sandy Bridge will be shown off at the consumer electronics show in January 2011.</P><br /><P>The chip, which is a showcase for Intel's new CPU architecture, is set to be (at the high end) a six-core model, which is made from 32nm silicon and has 15MB of cache memory.</P><br /><P>The chip is a major overhaul of Nehalem and while it uses Intel's existing integrated graphics technology, it is said to be pretty special when it comes to graphics performance.</P><br /><P><STRONG>Sand storm</STRONG></P><br /><P>It will also come with support for Intel's new 256-bit AVX extensions, a quad-channel memory controller and PCI Express 3.0. It has been confirmed that there will be an eight-core version available in due course.</P><br /><P>At the lower end of the spectrum, there will be Sandy Bridge dual- and quad-core variations available.</P><br /><P>Intel will be hoping that the few months it has got before AMD showcases its <a href="http://www.techradar.com/news/computing-components/processors/amd-bulldozer-the-fightback-begins-in-2011-663795">Bulldozer chips</A> will give it a bit of an edge.</P>

<img src="http://cdn.mos.techradar.com//classifications/images/Hasbro%20my3D-200-200.jpg"><br /><P>Toy giant Hasbro is preparing the launch of a new 3D-viewer for the Apple iPhone and iPod touch.</P><br /><P>Hasbro Inc. is set to launch its My3D viewer for iPhone and iPod touch early next year.</P><br /><P><STRONG>Binocular-style 3D viewer</STRONG></P><br /><P>Hasbro's My3D is set to allow iPhone and iPod touch users to view 3D content on their devices. </P><br /><P>My3D resembles a pair of binoculars with a slot in which the user inserts his or her iPhone or iPod touch. </P><br /><P>Brian Goldner, president and CEO of Hasbro said of the My3D: "The idea of being able to be somewhere in Los Angeles, in this 360-degree environment, to be in the shark tank, to be able to swim with the fish and chase after the fish. These are really breakthrough immersive experiences."</P><br /><P><STRONG>Launching spring 2011</STRONG></P><br /><P>It is set to cost $30 in the US, with no word as yet on a UK launch or pricing. A US retail launch is penned in for some time next spring.</P><br /><P>Apple has reportedly assisted Hasbro with its development of My3D accessory, as the device will require specialised apps to support display of the required 3D content. </P><br /><P>In order to produce content for the 3D viewer, Hasbro has teamed up with Dreamworks Animation, in addition to partnering with a forthcoming 3D TV network backed by Discovery, Sony, and IMAX. </P><br /><P>Shaw Wu, senior research analyst at Kaufman Bros. L.P. noted that: "The issue with this is whether they are going to get enough content for it."</P>

In terms of an idle-use case we are competitive in a tablet usage compared to any other solution out there." </p><p>Oak Trail will let users watch HD video on a tablet for up to eight hours at a stretch, claims the Intel man – which, if anywhere near the truth, suggests that new tablet PCs arriving later in 2011 will be even more ideal for long-haul flights and long trips.</p><p>Apple currently owns a whopping 95 per cent of the fledgling tablet PC market, with sales predicted to soar in 2011 and a number of new Android-OS devices set to arrive on the shelves over the coming months.</p><p>Samsung recently launched its Galaxy Tab in the UK, following Dell's launch of its Streak tablet earlier this year.</p><p>Tablet shipments are predicted to grow by around 200 per cent next year, while more traditional laptops and desktop PCs will expand just 13 per cent, according to the latest report from iSuppli.</p>
