Nokia E7 given January release date and price?

The Nokia E7 has been given a possible release date, and more importantly, an early price point.
The new Symbian^3 handset from the Finnish firm will cost around $679 according to Amazon US, which means it will probably be around £500 when it makes the transition over to the UK.
When you consider it's a 4-inch OLED-toting QWERTY device, it's not the worst price in the world, especially when you consider the additional tech on board (HDMI connector, 8MP camera and inbuilt storage).
Stepping up
However, that price point is still going to put it squarely in competition with the iPhone 4, the Nexus S and Desire HD - something the Nokia N8 managed to pseudo-avoid with a much lower price tag.
But if you're still hankering after the new Nokia E7, then at least TheNokiaBlog has good news for you: it seems US retailers are taking delivery of stock around 13 January, so we can imagine a UK release date isn't too far behind.
Nokia has already delayed the release of the new E7 from last year, citing quality control for the user, but given we saw it back in September, the Finns need to get releasing before Mobile World Congress hits and we get a whole slew of new exciting phones to wish we had.

Google Nexus S given teardown treatment

The Google Nexus S handset has been given its customary teardown by iFixit who have admitted they are impressed by the contour display and the inclusion of NFC technology. The NFC sensor is described as 'straight out of Tron' but the rest of the phone's innards are a little more as you would expect. Those parts include the 1 GHz ARM Cortex-A8 Hummingbird Multimedia Applications Processor based on the ARMv7 architecture, the 16GB of internet memory and the 512MB of RAM. Peculiar iFixit professed that the phone's motherboard was 'peculiar to us' because it has a giant hole in the middle to enclose the battery. And, a word of warning: "If you shatter the front panel glass, the SAMOLED [Super AMOLED] has to be replaced as well -- they're fused together." The site gives the phone a seven out of ten on its repair scale (ten being the easiest), which it can proudly display along with the four stars it won in TechRadar's very own Google Nexus S review.

Facebook given greenlight to trademark its 'Face'

Facebook has made some serious steps in protecting its brand by showing its intent to trademark the word Face.
A Notice of Allowance has been granted to the social-networking site, which is the first step in taking ownership of the use of Face in certain circumstances.
The Notice of Allowance states that, if successful, Facebook would be the only ones who can use the word Face for the following: "Telecommunication services, namely, providing online chat rooms and electronic bulletin boards for transmission of messages among computer users in the field of general interest and concerning social and entertainment subject matter, none primarily featuring or relating to motoring or to cars."
Facing facts
Facebook now have three months to pay a fee and then it can start trademark proceedings.
Considering that Apple currently uses the word Face for its Facetime service – which must fall under the banner of 'telecommunication' – it will be interesting to see if this would be encroaching on the soon-to-be Facebook trademark.
And let's not get started on what the A-Team will do if the trademark becomes a reality.
