After lots of delays one version of the aircraft is finally cleared to be delivered to buyers by the FAA. Today we have learned that Boeing, the maker of the 787 Dreamliner has chosen the Android operating system to provide passengers with in-flight entertainment like music, video, and apps. The OS may even provide airline-specific apps to passengers.</div>

The news comes by way of Mark Larson at Boeing. The massive airliner will be fitted with Android-based servers and touchscreens. Panasonic is the company that built the screens for the Dreamliner and each seat from first class to economy will have the screen on the back. The screens in business class and first class will be non-touch because the screens will be too far away to reach them.</div>

Apparently testing is going on for gesture based screens for those seats. Boeing already has 820 orders for the giant 787 and the Android choice locks competitors out of the airline industry in at least the 787. I think that Android screens with games, streaming video, and the ability to chat with folks on the ground will make flights much less tedious.</div>

This isn’t much of a change like we saw a few weeks ago but we do get a few very welcomed changed and additions to the market. What we have here are a few improvements as well as the introduction of the Google +1 button for apps and games.</div>

The biggest change to the new market that is rolling out now and available to download (below) is Google added some new security features that users have been asking and hoping to see for a long time. We now have the same pin code lock/unlock security option as we’ve always had, but now another level placed on the Android market. Now you can choose to have a PIN for opening the Android market this way no one can purchase unwanted applications on your phone.</div>

The new PIN code security is a great feature for those that have kids that love to accidentally buy apps, or that just don’t ask first. This is a great feature to have and something I’ve been waiting to see for a while now. Nokia is bringing brought Near Field Communication technology to life by giving London's museum visitors an easy way to learn more through their phones.</div>

Nokia is using its new NFC Hub service at the Museum of London to enable users to touch their phones to certain exhibits and instantly learn more information about the display.</div>

The tags around the museum will not only give information on exhibits but also allow users to directly interact with the location's social networks, download dedicated apps for their phone and get vouchers for the shops and cafes.</div>

It's not all direct information - things like booking tickets or app downloads offer redirects to the relevant website, but still offers an easy way for users to see how smartphones can be used in new ways.</div>

It's interesting to note that Nokia has carefully removed any mention of its own NFC-enabled handsets in this release; given the only device using the tech is the N9, which is apparently not coming to the UK, we'd have to assume the Finns are planning to launch new NFC-packing phones soon.</div>
