You will be able to choose from seven different colors, coming in 8GB and 16GB capacities that retail for $129 and $149, respectively. Multi-touch, eh? Guess we can be on the lookout for even more watch accessories for the nano now, that it can display up to 16 different clocks…

New Intel Solid State Drive 310 is smallest yet

Intel has just released its latest solid state drive, boasting a considerably smaller form factor than past SSDs. Intel's Solid State Drive 310 Series offers similar performance to the popular X25M SSD but is around an eighth of the size. Embedded apps and dual-boot notebooks Intel sees customers using this new SSD 310 Series for things like embedded apps (small, autonomous computers), as well as flagging a whole range of potential industrial and military uses. As far as consumer tech goes, Lenovo has already selected this new SSD, with Tom Butler, director of ThinkPad product marketing noting: "The Intel SSD 310 series will allow us to provide the advantages of a full-performance Intel SSD paired with the storage of a hard disk drive in a small, dual-drive system." A dual-drive system will allow you to put all your system and apps on the SDD for fast boot and launch times, while also keeping your main files and data on the cheaper and 'old fashioned' 2.5-inch hard drives. The SSD 310 series also matches the X18/25-M series' MTBF of 1.2 million hours and operating shock of 1,500G/0.5ms The SSD 310 series is now shipping to manufacturing customers at a cost of $99 for 40GB and $179 for 80GB (though that's based on a minimum order of 1000).

We've already seen graphene and carbon nanotubes soak up those electrons, but the University of Maryland has another idea -- they're using the Tobacco mosaic virus (TMV) to generate usable patterns of nanorods on the surface of existing metal electrodes. By simply modifying the germ and letting it do its thing, then coating the surface with a conductive film, they're generating ten times the energy capacity of a standard lithium-ion battery while simultaneously rendering the nasty vegetarian bug inert.

Biggest and smallest game launches of 2011 today

The new expansion pack for Blizzard's World of Warcraft launches later tonight, in what is sure to be one of the biggest and glitziest game launches since last month's launch of Call of Duty: Black Ops. Yet in a direct juxtaposition to this triple-A PR frenzy, today also sees the smallest games launch taking place in a London living room over tea and cakes. Casually hardcore "Forget A-list celebs and paparazzi," says PopCap games, heralding the low-key launch of Bejeweled 3. "This is the antithesis to the blockbuster-style video game launches we are used to seeing, with guests including the Clapham WI secretary, a retired schoolteacher and a librarian." PopCap claims that a recent study into gamers reveals that average gamer is a 45-year-old mum of grown-up children, with her own games console as well as laptop and MP3 player. Try telling that to the hardcore Warcraft horde crowing Oxford Street's game stores at midnight tonight! Back at the official Bejeweled 3 launch event earlier today, journalists saw "no glitz beyond that of the iconic in-game gems" as well as a "a cross section of the UK's most prolific casual video gamers: a Women's Institute secretary; a Welsh librarian; a glamorous banker and a trendy dad. An octogenarian granny of 12 pulled out at the last minute through illness - so we are sending best wishes for a swift recovery. Neil Shah from the Stress Management Society was on hand to promote the game's new 'stress-busting' Zen mode, with PopCap also citing un-attributed 'scientific research' claiming the game's new mode "is a great idea for helping players chill out even more and put all their worries to one side." PopCap's Cathy Orr, added: "Videogaming has become as mainstream a lifestyle entertainment as watching TV or reading a book so we couldn't think of a better place to launch Bejeweled 3 than a living room. Bejeweled is a phenomenon appealing to the widest possible audience of everyone - men and women, aged 6 to 106, from kids to glamorous businessmen and women to grandparents." Breath modulation, ambient sounds, binaural beats and mantras for focusing your thoughts, it all does, admittedly, sound very zen. But how many of use really know any 106-year-old gamers. Really?
