With the million of Android owners and Gmail users and the rest of the population using some sort of product of Google, they seem to be in a good spot right about now. Google has already developed a great mobile application for Android and an iOS version is on the way, then the rest is done all via the web. Get your Google+ invite and start sharing thoughts or pictures with all your friends and family just like on any other platform. For now Invitations are closed and the program is in Beta, but once they start allowing invites again we’ll take care of you. <img alt="" class="size-medium wp-image-39944 aligncenter" height="219" src="http://img801.imageshack.us/img801/5426/googleyou540x365.png" width="324" /> In case you guys missed it yesterday the program was still considered in closed beta until someone realized there was a Invite button on the lower right side of the screen while viewing your stream from the web. We all thought they opened the flood gates and everyone started inviting all their friends and family and it quickly became over capacity, but there was no birds holding up a whale over here at Google+. Instead it was quickly shut down and Vic Gundotra posted a little comment crushing everyone’s dreams of joining Google+ last night. While the buzz is still strong we’re assuming Google will be opening the doors again any time now, and we will be ready for them. So for all of our faithful readers that would like to join we will be ready to invite you or at least get you on the growing list of invites for Google to approve. If you would like to leave your Gmail email below in the comments we will be sure to try our hardest to get you invited once the light hits green again. UPDATE: all comments will now be “held for moderation” which means we’ll be the only ones who get to see them. If you commented before this change, your email was collected by us JUST for this Google+ invite post, and for nothing more, and will not be displayed below — this was done due to concern over SPAM, which we do indeed hate! <img alt="" border="0" class="aligncenter" height="135" src="http://img685.imageshack.us/img685/8141/usingipadatwork.jpg" width="279" /> The town of Cornelius, NC has launched a new program designed to cut down on paper use in the town's government facilities, and the linchpin of this program is none other than Apple's tablet, the iPad. According to the local Herald Weekly paper, the town passed out iPad 2s to commissioners at a recent board meeting, and plans to use the devices for sharing agenda packets, budget information, and everything else you need to run a small town, without printing any of it out. The whole plan seems surprisingly well thought out -- the town actually ran a trial of the program with just three iPads, and the paperless agenda plan has been set up for quite a while now. It was relatively cheap, too -- the town has only spent $5200 on the iPads (not counting some document sharing software previously purchased), and fully expects to make that money right back up in saved time and paper costs. Pretty impressive move, and of course this means the town commissioners also get to use Apple's magical and revolutionary device during meetings (though they should probably keep the Angry Birds off of government property, just in case). We've seen iPads used in a professional setting before to great effect, and here's another situation where Apple's product is not only better for a few reasons, but actually cheaper as well.

How to Edit With a DVD Program

Navigate to the Soft29.com website and click on "Try It Now" to download the trial version of Almersoft DVD Ripper. Double-click on the Almersoft DVD Ripper setup file to install the program. Click the "Next" button when prompted by the Almersoft DVD Ripper program. Browse for a directory you want to install the program to and click on the specific directory to select it. Insert your DVD into your DVD drive if using a DVD media. If prompted to auto play or open the disc, choose "Cancel." Open the Almersoft DVD Ripper by double-clicking on the program icon on the desktop. Click on the "Load DVD" button and when your DVD loads, select the file and click "Open" to add the file to the Almersoft DVD Ripper program. If your DVD media or IFO file are on your hard drive, click on the "Load File" button to browse and select the file from your hard drive. Click on the "Crop" button and drag the screen to adjust the black edges on the DVD file. Click "OK" when finished. Click on the crop drop down list and select "Cut off top and bottom edges" if you would like to remove the black edges entirely. Merge titles together by clicking the box "Merge into one file" on the main menu. This will generate one output file as opposed to several chapter files. Capture snapshot pictures from your DVD media or file while it is playing by clicking on the small camera icon beneath the preview window. Click the "Effects" button to add custom effects to your DVD files. Drag the slider bar on the contrast, saturation, brightness and volume to the specific level you would like, and click "OK" to save the file. You can also add "Emboss," "Negative," "Old film" and "Gray" effects to the DVD file. Choose the desired effect from the "Effects" drop-down list. Navigate to the Wonderdvd.com website and click on "Download" to save Wondershare Video to DVD Burner to your <a href="">computer.</A> Double-click on the Wondershare Video to DVD setup file to install the program. Click the "Next" button when prompted by the Wondershare Video to DVD program. Browse for a directory you want to install the program to and click on the specific directory to select it. Insert your DVD into your DVD drive if using a DVD media. If prompted to auto play or open the disc, choose "Cancel." Open the Wondershare Video to DVD Burner program by double-clicking on the shortcut icon on the desktop. Click the "Load Video" button to load your video file. Browse for files on your hard drive or DVD drive and click "Open" to add the files to the program. Click the transition tab to add different transition effects from one chapter to another. Click the corresponding effect to add to your video file. Click the "Menu" button to add different DVD menu templates. Click on the corresponding template to add the menu to your video file. Crop or trim the video file if you would like the screen resized. You may also adjust the contrast, brightness and other display settings of the video file. Navigate to the DVDcutter.net website and click on "Download" to save DVD Editor to your computer. Double-click on the DVD Cutter setup file to install the program. Click the "Next" button when prompted by DVD Cutter. Browse for a directory to install the program to and click on the specific directory to select it. Insert your DVD into your DVD drive if using a DVD media. If prompted to autoplay or open the disc, choose "Cancel." Open the DVD Editor program by double-clicking on the shortcut icon on the desktop. Click "File" and "Load DVD" or "Load File" to load your media file. Click the "Effect" button to add different effects to your video file. Drag the slider bars by clicking your right mouse button down to hold the slider bar and dragging the bar to the specific setting you would like. Click "OK" when finished. Click the "Trim" button to trim your video file. Drag the dashed bars to the location you would like and click "OK" to save the setting. Crop your video file by clicking the "Crop" button. How to Evaluate a Vulnerability Management Program

The difficulty of evaluating a vulnerability management program is made a little easier when the evaluation is based around some basic principles. Web application Security is vital to any business so the vulnerability management programs job is to ensure that all security issues identified, evaluated and dealt with as efficiently as possible.Here are five elements that every management program should incorporate.Risk management strategies. Essentially, the program should be based on risk management because this approach provides a valuable guide by which decisions can be made an independent evaluations made about the risks. In other words, each threat, as it is uncovered, needs to be independently assessed before a decision is made to deploy patches. Information Technology Practices. In essence the vulnerability of management program should also be considered within the context of overall IT management and practices. This includes training, documentation and procedures, monitoring of systems and data recovery strategies. As you probably already know these activities are vital to ensure ongoing security so effective vulnerability management program should contain these elements. Patch deployment. Patches need to be deployed in a timely manner so that software can continue uninterrupted whilst at the same time being protected against malicious attacks. It's important to note however that not all patches are applicable in every situation and a decision needs to be made about which patches are relevant and which will optimise the system in ongoing sense. This means that patching should be prioritised and evaluated against the potential dangers of nonimplementation. Every asset needs to be considered on its merits and patches should be tracked and identified before deployment. Antivirus programs. It almost goes without saying that an effective vulnerability program should also contain effective antivirus and malware protection that remain permanently operational so as to provide continuous protection against viruses, worms and Trojans. Specialist advice should be obtained before deciding which software to use. It's also vital to ensure that the software is regularly updated and that someone in the management team assumes responsibility for ensuring this happens. Self testing. The vulnerability management program should provide for periodic self checks. This is an important way to measure quality assurance and also to ensure that the program is effective. During a self check system configurations can be monitored to ensure that there are no holes that need to be dealt with.Although these five steps are not meant to be a comprehensive overview of how to evaluate a vulnerability management program, they provide a framework for starting an evaluation. It is certain that any evaluation will need to involve a variety of staff and other internal resources but the costs involved should not compromise the evaluation process. By providing regular reports to management, it is much easier to stay on top of emerging problems and decisions about replacing equipment or software can be made in a much more logical and informed environment.This is the only way that Web application Security can be adequately maintained. Incomplete programs must be removed manually, but simply deleting the program's folder doesn't clear all remnants of the program from your system. These bits and pieces left from old programs can slow your machine and even cause errors. 
Reinstall to UninstallMost of the time when you're having trouble uninstalling a program from the Start menu or from Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel, it's because of a missing installation "log file." This file contains a list of program components that were copied to specific locations on your hard disk when the program was installed. The best way to fix this problem is to dig up your installation discs and reinstall the program over the old copy. This should fix the log file problem and allow you to uninstall as you would normally.Use an Uninstallation Software UtilityUsing an uninstallation software utility program is a great way to cleanly uninstall incomplete programs. Simply download the uninstallation utility of your choice and use it to remove your unwanted application. Bear in mind that trial or shareware versions of utility programs may not give you full functionality and may need to be purchased to fully work, or uninstalled after the trial period ends.Manual UninstallIf reinstalling didn't work or you don't want to purchase a program, you can manually delete all program data. Browse to Windows/Program Files and find the program folder. Click on it to select it and hit the delete key on your keyboard. Worm Attack Or A Fake Anti-Spyware Program

I was expecting some nice gifts and not being threatened with worm.win32.netsky on Christmas day morning. When I turned my computer on windows security alert boxes kept popping up to say that my computer had been hacked into and had a virus and another warned that it had been infected by worm.win32.netsky. My Internet Explorer was constantly opening and trying to take me to spyware removal download sites.There were 3 new icons on my desktop 'privacy protector', 'Error Cleaner' and 'spyware & malware protection'. I had definitely not downloaded them so I reasoned that they could only be part of the problem that I was having. They started scanning by themselves, one told me that I had 161 spyware problems and another 243. Worm.win32.netsky was at the top of both lists and lower down were references to credit card hacking. My desktop turned dark red and a warning bar appeared telling me to click on it to protect my computer.At first I was worried then logic took over. My virus and spyware software, which comes with my broadband service, updated the day before and when I ran a check it came up with nothing. I had vaguely heard of worm.win32.netsky and did not think that it was so new that a virus scan would not pick up on it. I figured that the whole attack was to panic me into buying one of the products. I am stubborn and if I buy spyware protection it would not be through those methods.I did a google search for worm.win32.netsky and found a long list of sites. Most of the sites described it as part of the netsky family of email worms that comes to your computer as an email attachment. When you click on the attachment the worm activates then installs itself on your computer and propagates. It harvests email addresses stored on your computer and spreads further by sending itself to them. One or more spyware removal downloads were recommended, but I still did not believe that the computer was infected by anything more than bullying sales methods.I finally found a forum where a member had described exactly the same thing happening to him. Apparently Worm.Win32.Netsky is a scam, fake malicious software called Smitfraud, an anti-spyware program trojan, engineered by Internet hackers. A fraudulent way to get you to buy spyware removal software. He was pointed in the direction of SmitFraudFix v2.274 and the fix worked for him. I downloaded it and used it and thought that it had worked.The next day the warnings and desktop icons reappeared. I quickly ran Smitfraudfix again and then I restored my computer to 14 days before the problem appeared. So far so good, the fix and restore seem to have worked. SmitFraudFix v2.274 which apparently only works with Windows XP or 2000 was a free download so the whole thing cost me nothing but time and anxiety. Just to make sure I got a free download of Spyware Doctor from Google and ran it to make sure that my computer was clear and deleted cookies with it.One of the sites that my IE insisted on going to was selling XP Antivirus. If you do a search for XP Antivirus you will find claims that it is a corrupt anti spyware application that will try to trick you into buying it by falsifying error reports. Do not even think about buying it. XP Antivirus will not remove spyware it will not do anything useful, just scam you out of money.Where did the problem come from? I am not sure. I had not opened any email attachments for months and would only open attachments if I were expecting them. I downloaded some ebooks and software the day before but had not opened them at that point. I always check downloaded files with a virus scan before I unzip them anyway.Another possibility is that I visited a dodgy site and the rogue anti spyware program leached onto my computer. In fact when I thought about my surfing the night before it is the most probable explanation. No I do not make a habit of visiting dodgy sites! I was checking my article directory stats and towards the top of a long list of incoming links was a domain that I did not recognise. Out of curiosity I clicked on the link and was taken to a porn site. I did not stick around long enough to see if or why there was a link to my directory, but I will have to do a search to see if any of the articles have links to that site and delete them if they have.I recall that several years ago when I ran a magazine I checked a link from an advertisement that a subscriber had wanted me to publish. That was a porn site and a virus attacked my computer immediately afterwards. I got rid of the virus and needless to say I did not accept the ad. As I check the links with the articles submitted to my directory I cannot be as careful as I would like to be.They say that curiosity killed the cat; well it only inconvenienced and annoyed this one. The whole thing is fraudulent and a scam. I am really glad that I did not get caught out but no doubt many others will. Fortunately I always do a search if I am unsure of anything or want to find out about something. The best and most honest answers or information usually comes from forums, not the sites with reviews and links to the products.Of course worm.win32.netsky might really have been a worm from the netsky family then I really would have had a bigger problem to deal with. I thought that my broadband virus and spyware software would look after my computer but I will now look for something better. I really cannot understand the mentality of the malicious people who manufacture worms and viruses, or the scamsters who try to trick you out of your money. Tutorial: 10 tips for removing a program that won't uninstall

<img src="http://cdn.mos.techradar.com//classifications/computing/software/utilities/images/uninstall_installer-200-200.jpg"> If you find that sometimes you can't remove programs from your computer, read on. We have all the top tips you need. Most programs can be relied on to act with reasonable decency when asked to remove themselves from your computer. That's what the built-in uninstaller is for, after all - but sometimes things go wrong, or programs appear to come with no installer at all. What can you do then? You don't want it cluttering up your computer, so how do you get rid of it? In this guide we'll show you what to do when you can't remove programs in XP, Vista or Windows 7. 1. Check Control Panel All program installers should be registered in the Add or Remove Programs (XP) or Programs and Features (Windows 7/Vista) Control Panel. Check here first for the program in question - some may appear in the "View installed updates" section, such as Internet Explorer 8 in Vista (look in the Microsoft Windows section). If you see an entry, but can't remove the program from Add or Remove Programs due to an error, keep reading for an alternative solution. 2. Search for installer If you can't remove a program from Control Panel because there's no entry, see if the uninstall utility exists elsewhere. To do this, click Start > All Programs and check the program's shortcut folder for a possible uninstaller. If nothing is found, look inside the program's main folder for a program like uninst/uninst.exe or unwise/unwise.exe. Also look for any text or ini files that might refer to the program's installation - open these and you may find details you can follow to manually remove the program from your computer if all else fails. 3. Reinstall the program Some incomplete or corrupted program installations can be fixed simply by reinstalling the program over the top of itself using its setup utility. If you're really lucky, the setup utility might even recognise the existing installation and give you the option to modify, repair or - better still - uninstall or remove the program from your computer. Even if it doesn't, reinstalling may recreate that elusive uninstaller. 4. Get some help Check the program's documentation or website for uninstallation instructions or a manual removal tool - you may find the program is a "portable" application, which means it's self-contained in a single folder. All you have to do then is delete this folder along with any shortcuts you've created. 5. Ditch your security tool If you're trying to get rid of a security program, try using the free <a href="http://www.appremover.com/">AppRemover</A> tool, which works with most security programs and in many cases does a more thorough job of removing the program than its own uninstaller. If you have problems installing another tool after trying to uninstall your security program in the usual manner, try this. <img alt="AppRemover" src="http://mos.futurenet.com/techradar/classifications/computing/software/utilities/images/uninstall_appremover-420-90.jpg" width="420"></IMG> 6. Use a third-party tool <a href="http://iobit.com/advanceduninstaller.html">IOBit Uninstaller</A> is a free, lightweight portable application that might just help if you can't remove a program. Use it in Standard mode for a basic uninstall, or choose Advanced mode to hunt down leftover Registry entries and files, ensuring the program is thoroughly dispatched from your PC. It can also help with programs that come with no uninstaller or entry in Add or Remove Programs: just click Forced Uninstall to select the program file and see if IOBit Uninstaller can find the Registry entries and files needed to remove the program from your PC after a powerful scan has been performed. <img alt="IOBit" src="http://mos.futurenet.com/techradar/classifications/computing/software/utilities/images/uninstall_iobit-420-90.jpg" width="420"></IMG> 7. Clean up partial installs Some problems may be caused by the Windows Installer. If the setup program has a MSI file extension, was only partially installed and now refuses to go quietly, this is the likely problem. If you're attempting to remove Office 2003 or later, visit <a href="http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301">http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301</A> for a free tool that should be able to help you removed the failed install. If you're running a different program in Windows Vista or earlier, then you can try the Windows Installer Cleanup Tool instead. It's been known to cause problems with Office 2007, so use it entirely at your own risk: Microsoft has retired it for this reason, but it's still widely available from download sites such as <a href="http://www.softpedia.com/get/Security/Secure-cleaning/Windows-Installer-CleanUp-Utility.shtml">Softpedia</A>. Once installed, launch the tool, select your problematic program from the list and click Remove. If Windows Installer keeps throwing up error messages when you attempt to uninstall a program, try the troubleshooting steps at <a href="http://support.microsoft.com/kb/555175">http://support.microsoft.com/kb/555175</A>, or update to the latest version (3.1) through Windows Update. 8. Close running processes Some programs refuse to uninstall because other files are in use - reboot your PC and try again, or look for a Notification area icon you can use to shut the program down. If all else fails, right-click the Taskbar and choose Task Manager > Processes tab: identify the program's process from here, select it and click End Task. Once done, try removing it again. Certain files may refuse to delete because they're currently in use: try a clean boot following <a href="http://support.microsoft.com/kb/331796">Microsoft's guide</A> to see if you can now remove the program; failing that, use <a href="http://www.killbox.net/">KillBox</A> to delete the stubborn file. <img alt="KillBox" src="http://mos.futurenet.com/techradar/classifications/computing/software/utilities/images/uninstall_killbox-420-90.jpg" width="420"></IMG> 9. Remove manually If you know what you're doing, you could try removing the program by hand: boot into Safe mode, then look for the program's folder under C:\Program Files or C:\Program Files (x86).
