Log in to your account with your web hosting company or the company that issued your current SSL certificate.
Put in a request to upgrade the SSL certificate. Some companies have an "Upgrade" link you can click, while for others you might need to enter a help request with their customer service department. Call the SSL certificate issuer directly if you cannot complete the request online or if you have questions.
Cancel the old SSL certificate. You cannot change the information in the original SSL certificate; to upgrade you need to request a new, upgraded certificate with the same company information while simultaneously canceling the old one. Check with the company that issued the certificate -- some services will automatically cancel the previous SSL certificate as part of the upgrade process. You may need to pay a upgrade fee depending on how long you have had the current SSL certificate.
Open the Internet Explorer browser. Click "Tools" in the top menu.
Click "Internet Options" and click the "Advanced" tab.
Click the check box next to "Use SSL 3.0." Also check the box for "Use SSL 2.0," if it has not already been selected. You can find these options at the bottom section of the Options window. Click "OK" to save changes.
Open the Firefox browser and click "Tools" in the top menu. Click "Options."
On a Mac, click "Firefox" in the top menu and click "Preferences"
Click "Advanced." This applies to both Windows and Mac.
Check the box next to "Use SSL 3.0." In Windows, click "OK."
On a Mac, simply close the "Preferences" box and changes will save automatically.
