How to Test a Screen Inverter

Turn off your laptop and unplug the AC power cable. Locate the plastic frame that rests around the LCD screen. This is the screen bezel.

Remove all screws from the sides and corners of the screen bezel and remove the bezel. The inverter board will be mounted below or directly to the side of the screen.

Check the two cables that connect at either end of the inverter and make sure they are secure. If they aren't, unplug them and plug them back in, making sure they are secure.

Turn the computer on and check the screen to see if it is dim or dark. If it is, your inverter may be damaged beyond repair and should be replaced. To do this, remove the screw holding the inverter in place and unplug the cables. Remove the inverter and fit a new one in its place. Replace the cables and screen bezel.
