Run some Internet speed tests on one of the free resources listed below to get an idea of what speeds your connection is currently getting. Run at least three speed tests, take the average upload and download speeds, and compare those to the speeds guaranteed by your Internet service provider (ISP).

Reset the wireless network by unplugging the power cords of your Internet modem and your wireless router (if you use a wireless modem, simply unplug its power cord). Count a full 30 seconds and plug all power cords back in. Rerun the speed tests when the network has fully reboot and check for any improvement.

Unplug the ethernet cable that attaches your modem to your wireless router from the router and plug it directly into your computer's ethernet port. Reset the modem again using the same procedure and run a final set of speed tests to again check for any improvement. If the speeds improve at this point, the wireless components of either your wireless router or the Linksys G PCI card are malfunctioning and causing the slowdown; contact Linksys technical support for further assistance. If the speeds are still slow, the PCI card and router are likely working fine and the problem is with your Internet service generally; contact your ISP and report the slowdown.
