Nikon has announced a new, free, app for iPhone and iPad which allows users to access My Picturetown, Nikon's online sharing and storage service.</div>

The app, Picturetown Pad, which can support the new Motion Snapshot function built into the newly launched Nikon V1 and J1, can also display pictures in "book view" and "map view", utilising data that has been captured with GPS enabled.</div>

Using the app, users can create albums and customise the way photos are displayed. Photos can be displayed in a book-style layout, with shooting information displayed under each photo. Layout is random, with photos being displayed differently each time.</div>

Photos uploaded to Picturetown can be sent to Facebook and Twitter accounts, along with photos from the iPhone or iPad camera itself. Photos can also be sent as email attachments.</div>

Submerged is not a "useful" app like your address book or even a Twitter app -- it is a toy, or novelty app. Submerged takes video from the iPhone and warps it depending upon how you shake or move the iPhone. Silly? Perhaps, but it's the sort of thing that also shows off the fancy tricks iOS can do with your phone. A few years ago this sort of thing wouldn't have even been possible on mobile hardware!</div>

Of course, Submerged isn't just looking at the world as though it were underwater -- it can freeze those images and you can (at any time) poke and prod the image to further distort it. You can also modify pictures you've already taken. Of course you can share these images in myriad ways as well.</div>

Last summer, when the folks at iFixit first did a tear down of the iPhone 4, one of the interesting tidbits they revealed was that the iPhone 4 has two mics (which is more than most other cell phones), and that it has a white-labelled (manufacturers details removed upon request from Apple) noise cancellation chip in it. The idea being that ambient noise is identified by the second mic, and processed and cancelled out by the chip -- leaving the person listening to whoever is speaking into the iPhone 4 with much clearer audio.</div>

Furthermore, a few months ago, you may have noticed that iFixit -- along side the help of Chipworks -- revealed the unbranded chip to be a low power audio signal processor manufactured by Audience. The same noise cancellation chip found in the Google Nexus One phone.</div>

While that in itself may not be all that interesting, we thought you may be interested in the YouTube video iFixit sourced to demonstrate the power of the Audience chip. The video below is a recording of two separate voice mail messages called from the same noisy location, but on two different phones. One is from an unnamed, standard cell phone, the other is from the iPhone 4.</div>
