E-commerce market leader Flipkart has announced that mobile app has become the first e-commerce app in the country to cross the 100 million downloads mark on Google Play store.
"We are investing heavily in developing innovative features and incorporating fresh design aspects in our app so our customers go through the entire purchase cycle from search to selection to payments in a seamless and user-friendly manner. The 100 million app downloads is a testament to our growing customer base that loves to shop on Flipkart," said Ravi Garikipati, CTO, Flipkart.
The company said that Flipkart's is one among the only three India-specific mobile apps that have crossed this crucial consumer- adoption metric, surpassing downloads of other categories such as payments and transportation.
In terms of ratings, Flipkart's app holds a high average score of 4.4 from over 4 million users on Google Play Store -- the only e-commerce app to have reached that rating in India.
Meanwhile, the company has also announced deals on smartphones at prices never seen before during its Big Diwali Sale from October 14 to 17.
Flipkart will be offering customers a host of affordability constructs for a hassle-free shopping experience. Customers who purchase a Buyback Guarantee policy (available at just Rs.99) with their Smartphones during Flipkart's Big Diwali Sale will get minimum 50 percent buyback value for their phones later.
In addition to this, there will be a 10 percent instant discount on purchases through HDFC Bank Debit and Credit cards. No Cost EMI will be applicable on HDFC Bank Credit cards and Bajaj Finserv EMI cards. Product Exchange option will cover over 90 percent of the entire portfolio of smartphones on Flipkart.
