NEW DELHI: The free-to-play multiplayer online battle arena, Dota 2 finally has a winner. Team Liquid has won the international e-sports tournament and was rewarded with a grand prize of $10.7 million. Liquid won the championship by defeating a Newbee by 3-0. This is first championship won by team Liquid after appearing at five other international tournaments.

The team Liquid was the only surviving team left after four Chinese Dota 2 teams made their exit from the tournament by acquiring the sixth position. The Key Arena in Seattle turned into a fierce battleground where the Chinese and North American fans were supporting their respective teams.

Team Liquid fell to the lower bracket on day one despite getting through the group stage with a 13.3 record. From there, team Liquid went ahead by defeating Team Secret, Team, Virtus Pro and other two Chinese teams.

After beating all the teams Liquid secured their position in the grand finals against a Newbee. The final lasted for twenty minutes after which team Liquid came out as a winner. After the end of the tournament the Newbee secured a second position and took home the price money of $3.9 million.
