Reset the 3800 by unplugging its power cord for 30 seconds and plugging it back in. Restart your computer to give the 3800 enough time to reboot and reconnect after the computer has restarted to check for any improvement in wireless signal strength.
Power down any wireless devices in the home that may interfere with the 3800's wireless broadcast. Wireless phone systems, for instance, if operating on the same frequency as the 2Wire 3800, can interfere with its wireless broadcast, even if the phone is not engaged on a call. Power down the wireless phone's base station temporarily and again recheck the Internet for any improvement in wireless signal strength.
Purchase and install a wireless range extender. Ideally, wireless range extenders should be placed as high off the ground as possible, near or at the edge of the wireless broadcast range of the 3800, and as close to the device that is trying to use the Internet as is possible.
