If you missed your chance to pick one up when inventories were liquidated, everyone’s favorite evil electronics retailer Best Buy has your back. Not that you should show it to them. Limited stocks of 32GB TouchPads are available for the low, low price of $149… as long as you buy an HP-branded PC as well.</div>

HP announced earlier that they’ve abandoned their plans to sell off the PC division, but that WebOS, the TouchPad, and most of the employees left in the mobile division will be let go. The limited TouchPad-computer sale will begin on November 1st, and laptops, desktops and all-in-ones are included in the “bargain”. Prices for the computers themselves weren’t mentioned – perhaps you could pick up a $300 netbook to qualify? Online customers will be able to purchase the combo as well.</div>

I suppose there are a few people who could genuinely take advantage of this. Christmas is coming up, so the chance to get a 10-inch tablet for even less than a Kindle Fire is alluring, assuming you were already planning on buying a computer <span class="Apple-style-span" mce_name="em" mce_style="font-style: italic;" style="color: #444444; font-family: Georgia, 'Bitstream Charter', serif; font-style: italic; line-height: 1.5;">and </span>you’ve got another $150 to spend. And if you’re absolutely set on getting your TouchPad on, you could always sell the computer on Craigslist and eat the difference – it’s still a pretty amazing deal for hardware that cost $500 or more a few months ago.</div>

The future of WebOS might be murky and the future of updates is something that many that own the TouchPad may be worrying about. With a port that allows Android to run on the TouchPad the little HP tablet would get a second life and more usability for the average geek. A video has landed on YouTube that shows a demo of ACME Installer with dual boot for the TouchPad.</div>

The demo shows a geek with the ACME Installer mounting the TouchPad to a Mac and then moving some needed files over to the tablet. Once the files are over on the TouchPad, the files can be executed. To do this they create a folder called cminstall, copy a zip file over, and use the novacom program to start the ACME installer.</div>

It doesn’t take that long to get Cyanogen 7 running on the tablet and you can swap back to WebOS whenever you want. The addition of the new OS needs only three files including the ACME installer, novacom, and cm-update payload file. The video points out that the demo doesn’t mean the ACME installer is close to release though. The Cyanogenmod was benchmarked not long ago.</div>

It’s not HP who will be profiting in this little situation right here, but they can count on developers of apps making a pretty penny in the last week and a half to be reconsidering their move away from webOS in the wake of HP’s ditching of the hardware. As ad agency Jumptap, a group that works with mobile ads for both Android and webOS, amongst others, reports, in just the past 10 days the ad revenue of the TouchPad has nearly caught up with Android tablets.</div>

Android tablets should by now be in their prime, right? Not especially. While nearly every manufacturer under the sun has indeed released an Android tablet of some sort, you’ve got to consider the fact that Honeycomb, Android’s tablet-specific OS, is less than a year old itself. Of course you don’t see the iPad’s numbers on here, but given the amount of apps currently available for the Android tablet-specific world of Honeycomb at the moment, the TouchPad had a pretty good chance of catching up pretty quick.</div>

But this quick? Ten days and the TouchPad has a HIGHER tablet traffic share than Android did 10 days ago. Android remains on top here in this chart, but look at those gains! As our source James Kendrick of ZDNet notes, this chart shows traffic and not sales, but Jumptap assures us that the sales are certainly reflected in the end.</div>
