From the looks of it, we've got ourselves launch dates for a slate of new Lenovo tablets. A little note from the outfit's Affiliate Program, pictured above, shows the Android-packing IdeaPad K1 will, unsurprisingly, debut in late June or July, with a June 28th arrival being pegged for its rumored ThinkPad tablet. What's more, we could see a refresh of the company's IdeaCentre nettop coming our way August 30th. Looks like this summer could be a hot one for Lenovo, but we'll just have to wait and see how things pan out. Permalink

Most internet users spend under £7 a month on content

A new report detailing US consumers online buying habits indicates that, whilst the markets for downloading apps, music, games and other content is growing, most consumers spend less than $10 (£6.46) a month on downloads.
Reassuringly, for businesses selling content online, 65 per cent of US consumers regularly pay to access or download content online. It's just a shame that they don't pay more!
Pew Research report
The Pew Research Center report, released Thursday this week, confirms that the typical user pays between $1 to $10 per month for downloads or online streaming services
Nearly half of those in the survey pay for either smartphone apps or music downloads.
18 per cent pay for a digital newspaper or magazine, although only 11 per cent had paid for premium content when they were able to access a paper or magazine's website for free.
10 per cent of those in the survey had paid to download e-books, while only 2 per cent admitted to having paid for online porn.
A minority of heavy downloaders means that the average monthly payment for online content is $47 (£30.37)

Along with Rage HD, Infinity Blade has been one of the titles to really solidify iOS' position as the leader in mobile gaming right now, but that's not to say Android isn't in hot pursuit: besides this Zeus we have on the horizon, Gingerbread improves gaming support on the API level -- and now we're seeing our first Unreal Engine 3-based title make the leap. Dungeon Defenders: First Wave, which just launched on iOS, is coming to Android 2.1 and above on December 23rd bringing with it an online, multiplayer tower defense gaming experience. Of course, one problem these guys have now is that Android hardware is all over the map, so they actually need to publish a long list of minimum requirements -- just like PC titles -- and in this case you need 512MB of RAM, an 800MHz or better SOC with support for OpenGL ES 2.0, and at least 400MB of free storage. Apart from the myTouch 4G (which has some occasional "stability issues"), most recent mid- to high-end handsets seem to be ready to roll, including "all Tegra 2 based devices" like the Optimus 2X that was just announced. Follow the break for some video action and the full press release.

Google's Chrome Operating system is rumoured to be launching later this month, according to anonymous "component players" in Asia.
We first reported on Google Chrome OS back in November 2009, though Google has remained schtum since that time about its plans to release the new operating system in new consumer devices.
Google-branded Chrome OS device
Acer made noises earlier this summer that it was planning on releasing Chrome OS devices in 2010, although the company quickly backtracked on its original statements.
As we rapidly approach the end of 2010, the latest news on Chrome OS comes from Digitimes which claims – citing un-named sources in the component industry – that Google will be launching the new operating system later this very month.
The information comes from unnamed "component players," with no official word from Google or any of its planned manufacturing partners as yet.
Google is also rumoured to be releasing a self-branded Chrome OS device.
