<div class="ex"><p>The “Migrant Skyscraper” is literally mobile, a giant, thin tire with a building and green space in the center. The concept behind the structure is in an unstable world, people need the stability of self-sufficiency to truly be free, and the future of architecture can help provide that.</p><p>By constructing a safe haven for residents ensures they will have food to eat and water to drink, the Migrant Skyscraper affords people freedom despite what natural and social disasters may come.</p><p>The building-inside-a-wheel can stay stationary for however long residents please, but, for example, if political upheaval destabilizes a region, residents can fire up the biofuel-powered engine and cruise to a new location. The structure’s exterior tire is clad in recycled rubber.</p><p>Inside two buildings and surrounding green space provide everything residents need to survive, making the tire-encapsulated unit completely self-sufficient. A new record has been set in Japan for camera sales. According to BCNranking, 11 out of the 20 most popular cameras sold in Japan were mirrorless compact system cameras.</div>

The global news agency points out that Hoya's initial acquisition of Pentax, back in 2007, was primarily motivated by its eagerness to acquire Pentax's medical technology, and although the company's had a slew of strong products since then, it probably makes sense for Hoya to pass the digicam work on to someone who might feel more invested in it. For its part, Ricoh also has a well respected line of digital compacts, but lacks the DSLR lineage and experience that Pentax brings. Provided this deal goes through as rumored, and <em>Reuters</em> has three sources who say it's imminent, the only question we've got to ponder is whether the Pentax naming will take over for Ricoh's slightly less recognizable branding or vice versa.<br/><br/><strong>Update:</strong> That was quick! Hoya has confirmed the sale. Thanks, Ben! It is as reported earlier: Hoya will hang on to the rights to manufacture and develop products for the medical field, while Ricoh is gobbling up the Pentax Imaging Systems products with a view to expanding its presence in the consumer digital camera market.

This date jives with a rumor out of Digitimes that suggested the iPad 2 would ship within the next 100 days. Component suppliers involved in this upcoming manufacturing effort are thought to include Chinese touchscreen supplier Wintex, battery manufacturer Simplo Technology, digital camera chassis maker AVY Precision, and an unlisted manufacturer that supplies covers for electronic devices.<br />
The details leaked from these manufacturers match anaylsts' expectations and previous rumors. One manufacturer that claimed to be working on the iPad 2 suggests it would have dual cameras, while the other hinted at a higher resolution display (retina?) and thinner design. The sources also claim that two camera module suppliers, Genius Electronic Optical and Largan Precision, have recently received new supply orders from Apple. Thought to be for the rumored iPad 2, the source could not confirm the iPad was the intended device. These rumors come hot on the heels of leaked iPad cases from two seperate sources, both of which include cut-outs for a rear-facing camera.<br />

*We'll be interested to see what is meant by "retina display" here. Matching the iPhone 4's 326 PPI would require a screen resolution at or around 2560 x 1920 - nearly 5,000,000 pixels. Just powering such a thing would be difficult to say the least.
