<div class="ex"><img alt="Google Glass to to bring camera tech to your eyes" src="http://www.new-technology-news.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/glass_photos.jpeg">Google Glass has been spotted in the wild once more, this time on the Charlie Rose Show in the US.The augmented reality glasses system sounded like a pipe dream when it was first shown off by Google but this is the second time an employee has worn them in public.There were some new features shown off in the interview, including some picture-taking functionality.This time the wearer was Sebastian Thrun from Google X, the cooler and better name for what was Google Labs.On the show, he apparently took a picture of the titular host with the Google Glass system and posted it straight from the device.<h4>Through the looking glass</h4>There’s been no word on the full functionality for Google Glass, but having a camera built into the device is key to how the glasses will work – given they will be using augmented reality tech.According to Thorn, you will also be able to compose emails by talking to the glasses and have incoming messages pop up while you are wearing them.The glasses are also thought to sit higher up on the face than a normal pair would but this is so your normal vision isn’t impeded. A whole host of Sandy Bridge laptop and desktop machines, by the sound of its latest press release. The green giant of graphics has proudly announced a new record of 200 OEM design wins for Intel's incoming CPUs. The big draw of Sandy Bridge is that it's the first processor to include an integrated GPU embedded directly within its die, which is projected to improve power efficiency and overall performance -- though clearly it hasn't been impressive enough to get PC vendors to abandon discrete graphics chips. If anything, they seem to be going in the other direction and insisting on a discrete GPU as well. In other news, whether with or without NVIDIA's help, the first Sandy Bridge laptops will feature quad-core parts. Such is the word directly from Intel, with one insider adding that the dual-core debutants will get their chance a month after CES, around the middle of February. It's hardly a secret that some websites tap into your internet browsing history, with the whole topic of how companies collect, use and store this information a controversial topic. But Microsoft is hoping that tracking protection – which will still require users to opt in to use it – will 'identify and block many forms of undesired tracking'. Combination "We believe that the combination of consumer opt-in, an open platform for publishing of Tracking Protection Lists (TPLs), and the underlying technology mechanism for Tracking Protection offer new options and a good balance between empowering consumers and online industry needs," <a href="http://blogs.msdn.com/b/ie/archive/2010/12/07/ie9-and-privacy-introducing-tracking-protection-v8.aspx">stated </A>Dean Hachamovitch, Microsoft's corporate vice president for Internet Explorer. "They further empower consumers and complement many of the other ideas under discussion." Hachamovitch points out that being able to access user information is "inherent in the design of the web and simply how the web works" but Microsoft is keen to allow people to control the information that they are sharing. Of course, being an opt-in process may mean that the very users who are unaware of how much information they share will remain oblivious to the problem, but it's at the very least a handy option.

According to the <a href="http://www.newscientist.com/article/dn19776-microsoft-develops-shapeshifting-touchscreen.html">New Scientist</A>, the touchscreen technology uses pixel-sized shape-memory plastic cells that can be called to the surface individually. This technology could theoretically allow the shapes of objects to be 'felt' on a big-screen device, like a tablet. You got the touch The patent goes some way into explaining how the technology works, stating that that plastic is sprayed with polymer – a malleable coating which reacts differently depending what type of UV light is shone on it. It is unknown how close to market the technology is, but if successful it could change the way touchscreens are used and even offer up a way to bring Braille on to mobile devices for the visually impaired. It seems that the technology won't be coming to phones anytime soon, because it has been created for bigger touchscreens. Microsoft could well implement it into its Surface devices in the future, though, as well as the inevitable slew of tablets.

<img src="http://cdn.mos.techradar.com//classifications/computing/internet-and-broadband/images/ethernet-cables-200-200.jpg"> While many of us Brits take superfast broadband access for granted these days, a new 'fibre in the sky' project that hopes to bring speedy internet connections to Africa and other limited-connection zones throughout the world just received £700 million in a new funding round. The new O3b satellite broadband project (O3b stands for "other three billion") hopes to deliver broadband services to three billion people across the globe, which would fundamentally change the level of online access for many of the world's poor. Ambitious space project The project is described as one of the most ambitious commercial space projects of our generation. O3b hopes to fix the problems created by the lack of super-fast fibre optic cable connections in throughout Africa, Asia and Latin America. O3b chief exec Mark Rigolle said: "This has allowed us to secure our funding and to achieve our goal of reaching the billions who have so far been poorly served or completely cut off from the internet - the greatest business and information resource of our time." Jersey-based <a href="http://www.o3bnetworks.com/">O3b</A> Networks's satellites would support super-fast broadband connections to the world's emerging markets. The spacecraft will act as backhaul, linking the traffic of local telecoms and internet service providers to the global fibre infrastructure. 2013 launch into orbit O3b has raised the latest round of cash investments into the project from a range of banks and private investors, in order to fund the first eight satellites. These first satellites will be built by <a href="http://www.thalesgroup.com/Markets/Space/Home/">Thales Alenia Space</A> in Cannes, and should be ready to go into orbit early 2013. These first eight satellites will go into Medium Earth Orbit (MEO) about 8,000km above the equator, which will provide broadband coverage to countries within the plus and minus 45 degrees Latitude zones. Internet traffic from these areas will then be fed into the fibre network that supports the internet throughout the developed world. O3b hopes to put a total of 20 satellites in orbit following the success of this first initiative.

Self Management at work has not evolved much past the 1920's. Techniques of stress management and business management are antiquated and irrelevant. Times change, technology changes, demands are up, so we must evolve our way of dealing with it. Most self management is taught by corporate drop outs, people who couldn't hack the pace, but we need better than that, instead of trying to reduce the inspiration at work, we need to bring our self management tools up to speed with reality. There is no excuse for stress, burn-out and bringing exhaustion home. This article explains how and why it all must change.Busy day? Feeling completely shagged? Burned out from answering questions, solving problems, developing new strategies? Angry at that client what just won't get off your back, or the employee who stuffed up once again? Are you having a few cash flow problems that you just can't share, and therefore your emotions are all bottled up making you tired, grumpy?Don't bring it home is an idea I got after staying with friends overseas and watching the father of the house come home wounded, day after day from work. It seems he felt justified - aka - proud of the fact that tiredness proved that the money he earned came the hard way, and therefore he was showing the family how hard it was to support them.I came to the conclusion that much of our behaviour at work comes from that idea, that money earned easily is not right, and that money earned by hard work is better. But this contradicts natures law in a huge way.Natures law is that abundance comes through evolution. Struggle reveals a lack of abundance. If we keep setting our budgets too high we keep ourselves in poverty. If we set them too low we keep ourselves in poverty also. Business grows at the border of chaos and order. The idea of the budget is to grow along that line, with healthy chunks of aspirational challenge and healthy chunks of abundant comfort.Too much visioning, greed and overreach comes from a minimalist mind because it has no appreciation for what its got. It can only think about what it can have. That's like the dog with a bone, who sees its magnified reflection in the water, drops the bone its got to reach for the bigger one in the water. Of course, it ends up with nothing.If nature evolves at the border of chaos and order, then it is wise to think about your day in the same way. 50% of it should be healthy, abundant, happy, relaxed and comfortable. 50% should be challenged, stretched, visioning and tense. Now if you have 6 months of the latter, i.e. pressure, then nature will give you the other half, like it or not, by introducing a stroke, a heart problem, a loss of power or something to cause you balance.Don't bring it home begins with the recognition that all your life you will have a balance of chaos and order, at home and at work. You get to choose the chaos if you push yourself into areas you fear, feel uncertain in, feel out of your depth in. And you get to choose your order if you can balance your aspiration for more, more, more with the concept of daily periods of comfort and appreciation.Now, the reason I say, don't bring it home, is because you are part of a herd. Your family is your herd, and they are a part of other herds at school and at play. So, when you come in the door, either all pumped up because you achieved something, or all pumped down because you didn't, then the balance factor becomes a virus. It spreads. One member of your herd reacts one way to you, another reacts differently and suddenly your incompetence at self management at work, becomes a trigger to your own family, and eventually all they touch too.Sometimes we are so messed up in the way we manage our work that we have to "let our hair down" in big spurts of release. The pub, the gym, the overseas trip to name just 3. But there is a whole industry built around incompetent self management at work. This includes but is not limited to; hospitals, alternative medicine, chiropractors, prostitutes, alcohol, drugs, cigarettes and more. I think, if anti smoking campaigns were serious about reducing the affect of smoking, rather than the number of cigarettes smoked, they'd send this message about healthy self management to all people who work. Balance.The final crunch comes when we try, through greed, goodwill, ambition, or plain inspiration to live on only one side of the chaos - order border. The masculine side is "of course" the chaos, drive and ambition, the feminine side is the order, nurturing and smelling the roses. We're all a bit bent out of shape in balancing these two sides of ourselves. But nature doesn't care. She's got the bitch in her and if you think you can defy 3 billion years of her function here on earth, well think again.Healthy self management in business means equal doses of chaos (aspiration, uncertainty, challenge, conflict, confusion, ambition) mixed, on a daily even hourly basis with order (appreciation, comfort, peace, agreement, acceptance, certainty, resignation) - this is the only sustainable business model there is, in tune with nature.Chaos and order are natures hand. You can't even escape them on a mountain top in Nepal. Chaos and order are the cells of your body, fighting disease, curing disease. It's your relationship, confused and then bliss. You can choose to manage yourself in tune with nature by injecting equal quantities of both into your day, or be at the mercy of natures choices for you. Either way, there really is no choice.My final word is to consider this. Once, to go to work - be in chaos all week and then order all weekend, was a good balance. The cost was eventual biological breakdown in old age. But now, in our more evolved world with technology advancing at the speed of light, this clumsy concept of work/play is absolutely unacceptable. Even the idea of meditation in the morning and chaos all day is unacceptable and too extreme.Today, self management needs a more "in the moment" way of balancing chaos and order. Even technologies such as mini ipods allow us to transport ourselves into order during chaotic circumstance. But the real future of chaos/order balance lies in the mind. The ability to choose the balance in the hour, to blend chaos and order is one of the greatest spiritual powers given to us all. To aspire yet, appreciate, to be confused yet take time to see the order, to feel the emotion yet, sit back and feel what is beneath it. This is evolution. The future of self management. While the term "Black Friday" sounds more like a remembrance service tradition for victims of the plague, it is certainly worth noting the date in your diary if you plan to buy books, gadgets, games, movies (or pretty much anything else that's available on Amazon) for your loved-ones this Christmas. When IS Black Friday? In more understandable calendar terms (for Brits, at least!) this means that Friday 26 November is a good day to do your Xmas shopping online on Amazon, if you plan to get the Christmas pressies in early this year. Of course, you could always do the 'usual' and leave the present shopping until Christmas Eve and then carry out the traditional panic run down Oxford Street (or round your local mall) to try to find that must-get item for the wife/mother/child/sibling/nephew.
