Motorola teases 'future of tablets' video

Motorola has issued a 'Tablet Evolution' video prior to next month's consumer tech show that calls the iPad a 'giant iPhone' – reiterating what many Apple naysayers have been saying since the iPad launched earlier this year. Motorola versus the world Not content with rubbishing one of its competitors, Motorola then turns its gaze on Samsung, branding the recently-launched Samsung Galaxy Tab as running Android 'for a phone'. While not stating directly what OS the new Motorola tablet will run, the fact that the teaser video contains a bee buzzing around over the new red Motorola logo strongly suggests that we will be seeing a slate running the new Android 3.0 'Honeycomb' at CES next month. But, of course, we'll have to wait until we get the official unveil at the Motorola press conference in Las Vegas in January. Google CEO Teases Nexus S with Gingerbread

At the Web 2.0 Summit held in San Francisco, Google CEO Eric Schmidt showed off a mysterious non-branded smartphone running Google Android OS. It didn't take much scratching to figure out that Schmidt actually showed off heavily anticipated Samsung Nexus S which we believed would be branded as Nexus S. Also, Schmidt announced that Android 2.3 Gingerbread update is just a few weeks away. Seems like the top cat just peeked out of the coat. 
 
Last month-end, Samsung was rumored for manufacturing the Nexus One successor which was allegedly dubbed as Nexus S. Three days ago, Nexus S prototype or engineering unit images were leaked on the web followed by the specifications leak of the next Galaxy S successor. And now, at the Web 2.0 Summit, attendees that include Nilay Patel of Engadget, swore to have seen Nexus S running Android 2.3 Gingerbread in Eric Schmidt's hands. The Nexus S had home button on the extreme right which was a bit unusual.

Showing off Nexus S at such non-Google centric event is quite surprising. In July, Eric Schmidt clearly stated that no Nexus Two was planned. And today at the Web 2.0 Summit, Schmidt admitted that he said that there will never be Nexus Two  (emphasizing on the Two) but never said there wouldn't be Nexus S or anything about the letter S. He also announced that next major Android 2.3 update Gingerbread was just few weeks away and would carry built-in support for Near-Field Communication Technology. This technology basically enables a mobile device with NFC supporting chips to send out information at short distances of up to 4-6 inches which would help for e-commerce, mobile search and location-based services. 
As of now, there are no solid details on the specifications of the device shown by Eric Schmidt so we'll try to avoid linking all Galaxy S2 or Galaxy 2 specifications with Nexus S. As for Google Android 2.3 Gingerbread, we have already mentioned the features we wish to see in it.
