New users of the Squid caching proxy may be unfamiliar with some of these messages and the sort of error that they indicate. Though there are dozens of potential error messages, some of the most common problems are the simplest to diagnose.UpgradeMany problems reported by users have been patched in version 2.6. If you are using any versions older than 2.6, an upgrade is in order. Visit the Squid website to download and install the most recent version.Illegal CharactersSometimes, proxy errors are due to the use of characters that are not recognized by the proxy hosts. Underscores are the most common cause of this error. Squid can be reconfigured to accept underscores as a recognized character by adding "enable_underscores on" to squid.conf.Cannot Bind SocketA socket error message means that some other process is using the port that your proxy normally uses.
