Problems With WiFi After Shutting Off the Host Computer

Make sure that your host computer is connected to the Internet via the router, not the modem. Most modems come with two connections---an ethernet connection and a USB connection. Using one to connect to the router and the other to connect to the computer is the most common cause of issues when your host computer is shut down. <P>A proper configuration would be to connect the router to the modem, and then the host computer to the router via an ethernet cable, ensuring that your router is only pulling its signal from the modem. </P>Power down your router, computer and modem, and let them rest a few minutes before turning them back on and plugging them in. You might try running the modem and router without connecting to the host computer to test the wireless network to see if it will work. <P>While sometimes resetting the problem machinery will fix the problem, other times it's a temporary fix for a bigger problem. </P>
