Canon has, replacing that excessive unused space with a built-in calculator in its X Mark I Mouse, announced today for folks in the US. (If you'll recall, we spent a few quality moments with this guy in Germany last year at Photokina.) The combo device provides users with both a physical ten-digit adding machine and a numeric Bluetooth 2.0 keypad, which you can use seamlessly with a variety of apps, replacing the number pad now absent on many desktop and portable keyboards. The company's camera design team helped to create the hybrid input device, which also includes a trio of mouse buttons and laser tracking. Canon also announced its X Mark I Keypad, a full-size calculator with Bluetooth support that's powered by either AAA batteries or a built-in solar panel. Both devices will be available for $60 in August and September, respectively, and will ship in both black and white.</div>

Moom is different. Moom integrates into the existing Apple UI by providing a pop-up menu when you hover your mouse over the green "maximize" button in the top left-hand corner of your window. Clicking on one of the Moom menu options moves and zooms (mooms) your window to the desired sector of the screen. By default you've got horizontal and vertical half-screen configurations as well as full screen. If you want a quarter screen window, you can click and drag on the default Moom buttons to define the desired quarter. Sending the window to another monitor is as easy as dragging one of the buttons in the desired direction of the monitor. A grid below the buttons allows you to quickly define a new size and position by selecting the squares required. If all your Mooming gets a bit crazy, you can move the window back to its original position with the revert arrow. You can also define custom mooms in the settings, which are then accessible via a drop-down menu from the Moom pop-up or menu bar. Moom also includes robust support for keyboard shortcuts, including binding of window sizes and positions to individual shortcut keys. Moom takes keyboard usage one stage further with a keyboard control mode in which you can move the window around with the arrow keys, moom a window to any of the half-screen configurations, send it full screen or centered and even send it to the next monitor. Moom is also able to run as a menu bar icon, a standard OS X program or even "faceless" (hidden). We've covered a few other window management utilities on TUAW, but it's safe to say Moom is one of the best. For US$4.99 it's going to be one of the first apps I install on a Mac from here on in. Now Gyration's MotionTools software has been released for OS X, we can get the most out of this new Air Mouse Elite. Gyration's Air Mouse range is based on a similar motion-sensing technology as used with the Nintendo Wii's hand controllers. You move your pointer by waving the mouse through the air, holding a trigger button so it only moves when you want it to. It's very responsive and easy to control. There's a laser in there too, so you can also use the device as a desktop mouse. Left and right buttons are catered for, as is a scroll wheel. Three 'media buttons' can be programmed with separate functions for different categories of software – volume control and pause for media apps, or navigation when using an internet browser, for instance. Unfortunately, you can't add apps to MotionTools' pre-defined lists, so (for example) a Media Player profile only works for iTunes and VLC; and Presentation settings only for PowerPoint and Keynote. Swiping gestures also can be assigned, and triggered by holding the circular button as you wave the mouse. The Air Mouse Elite is certainly more comfortable than the GO Plus when used as a desktop mouse, but some might find it less ergonomic in the air. Try before you buy if you can.

"Provision is always working on innovative ways to improve our 3D holographic technology and making it interactive was just our first step," says Curt Thornton, President and CEO of Provision.
