WikiLeaks will no longer be hosted on Amazon's EC2 web servers after being shown the door and sent packing to Europe.

The controversial site, which this week further irked the US government by revealing embarrassing correspondences from the State Department, no longer has a home on US soil.

It will now be hosted on servers in Europe, according to a report by Reuters.

First amendment

In response to being sent to Coventry, WikiLeaks issued two statements via Twitter: "WikiLeaks servers at Amazon ousted. Free speech the land of the free--fine our $ are now spent to employ people in Europe."

The second read: "If Amazon are so uncomfortable with the first amendment, they should get out of the business of selling books."

Suggestions are that government snooping into Amazon's relationship with the site might have factored into the decision, but so far Amazon has refused to comment
