If you're waiting impatiently for the Android 2.2 update to arrive on your mobile, then bookmark this page, because we'll be keeping it up to date with all the latest Android 2.2 release dates.

First off, the Nexus One Android 2.2 update has finally landed. "This update will be rolled out gradually to phones – and most users will receive the notification by the end of the week," Google said on 29 June.

However, Vodafone UK Nexus One users were upset they weren't able to get the update at the same time – but that's now been rectified according to the network, with the new update coming over the next week or so for all those on contract.

HTC Desire - unbranded handsets

We can also confirm that the HTC Desire Android 2.2 update will begin rolling out from Saturday 31 July. HTC said in a press release: "This update will initially roll out to unlocked HTC Desire handsets. Operator specific versions of the update are undergoing testing and we expect to make them available in several weeks' time."

O2

O2 started rolling out the update on 6 September but had to postpone it due to freezing phones.

However, it is now live - we started to get reports from O2 customers that 2.2 was rolling out on 27 September, confirmed by an O2 representative later that same day.

T-Mobile

T-Mobile has confirmed that it is aiming to roll out the T-Mobile HTC Desire Android 2.2 update this September.

Vodafone

Vodafone has also confirmed that it is working on the Android 2.2 update for the Vodafone HTC Desire, and will ship the firmware "as soon as possible". Vodafone told TechRadar: "We'll update customers when we have a confirmed release date."

UPDATE: Vodafone has now stated that it expects the Android 2.2 update to land around 20 August... although it's still subject to testing and may be a little longer than that.

UPDATE 2: It turns out Vodafone was right on the money - the Android 2.2 release date for HTC Desire owners will begin on 23 August and take up to two weeks to land. Vodafone cited 'getting it right' as the reason for the slight delay, but at least it's nearly here and finally happening.

UPDATE 3: It's here - and apparently it takes 25MB of internal storage to work. So head into your Settings, then About Phone to manually check for the update if you haven't been prompted already.

Orange

On 2 August, Orange said that its Android 2.2 HTC Desire update is four weeks away. "We are working with HTC to bring the 2.2 Android update to Desire customers as soon as we can," said Orange on Twitter.

UPDATE: Looks like Orange fans are going to get the HTC Desire upgrade to Android 2.2 in mid-September, according to Orange's Twitter.

Apparently delays in the shipping of the final ROM to Orange have caused the update to be pushed back, so bad luck for now if you're an Orange-ite.

UPDATE: As of 22 September the Orange HTC Desire Android 2.2 update is rolling out.

Three

On 3 August, Three announced its HTC Hero and HTC Desire Android 2 upgrade dates. On the HTC Desire Android 2.2 update, Three explained: "HTC are building a specific version for Three which will take them a few weeks. Once we have this version it will be tested, approved by Google and then rolled out to customers."

Virgin Media

Virgin has now also confirmed it will be updating the HTC Desire and HTC Wildfire to Android 2.2 in September, with a Tweet stating: "HTC Desire and HTC Wildfire - great news, we're expecting to release OTA updates to 2.2 (Froyo) early Sep :)".

Other phones

Other phones have confirmed the update – on 5 August, Samsung confirmed that the Samsung Galaxy S Android 2.2 update will arrive in September, and will land on all networks.

UPDATE: The Samsung Galaxy S Android 2.2 update is now due in early November.

HTC Wildfire and HTC Legend will also be getting Android 2.2 in Q3 of this year.

Motorola Milestone

Whether the Motorola Milestone Android 2.2 update will arrive is looking a little uncertain after James King, Motorola European marketing director, was quoted by Softpedia as saying "The decision is pending." King went on to add "It is a big undertaking that requires planning and resource and third party coordination to see this all through. As I say, once we have the decision, we will inform."

UPDATE: The Motorola Milestone will be getting Android 2.2, but only in Q4, and 'beginning at the end of the year' meaning it could even be in 2011 by the time it lands.

Motorola Milestone XT720

We're still waiting for information on the HD-recording brethren of the Milestone getting an Android 2.2 upgrade, but given its Asian counterpart, the Motoroi, will be picking it up in Q4, we hope a UK release date is not too far away.

Dell also confirmed at launch that the Dell Streak Android 2.2 update would be coming later this year.
