Choose your sizing agent carefully. To use your paper with ink, the polymer medium is the best way to go, as this is what is used in most manufacturing plants.
Read the agent's label carefully because you may need to dilute it with distilled water before it will spread across the paper. Strong film is not needed for ink mediums so more water is acceptable. For fine art inks, don't add more than 50 percent water. Once the mixture is spreadable, there is no need to continue diluting.
Apply the solution to each side of the paper with a paintbrush, waiting for the mixture to fully dry before turning it over. Two coats should be sufficient. When you are finished, the surface may have a plastic-looking finish, and very thin paper may appear translucent. However, the polymer medium is the least likely available agent to have this effect.
Lay the wet paper out on a sheet of glass. The paper will not stick to this surface and should be easily peeled off when finished drying.
