web stats service from statcounter

Search online for advertising servers that you can upload to your website. A vast majority of ad servers are developed and maintained by online advertising networks; most search engines will pull up a multitude of ad servers with a basic search.

Identify the system of compensation used by the ad server to pay for the advertising space on your website. The three main types of compensation for ad space on websites are CPM, or cost per thousand impressions; CPA, cost per action; and CPC, cost per click. CPM pays every thousand times the website and advertisement are loaded by individual users. CPA pays the web host each time the product or service advertised is purchased. CPC pays each time an advertisement is clicked on to access the business's website.

Calculate how much money you can reasonably earn through the ad server. Contact the ad server and find what percentage of commission it charges; this will be subtracted from your compensation. Contact your website host service and find any available information about how many individual page views and hyperlink clicks your website has earned. Use this information to determine whether CPA, CPC or CPM is the best deal for your website.

Investigate further into the terms and conditions of each ad server to narrow down the field until a choice for an ad server becomes clear. You might decide that it's important to have some input on what ads appear on your website, more extensive reports of advertising data or faster ad loading times, among other things. Find out what special services you can benefit from as a website owner hosting a portal for a specific ad server.
