Turn on the wireless receiver. For example, on a Dell laptop you can turn your wireless receiver on and off, or enable it, by pressing the "F2" button on your keyboard.

Locate the cords running to the wireless router and make sure none are loose, and that they are connected properly. Also check that all lights are flashing properly; if not, press the "Reset" button on the back of the router to reset the connection. Allow 10 to 15 minutes for the connection to reboot.

Move the mobile PC you are using closer to the wireless router. Being too far away from the router will cause you to get a weak signal and cause problems keeping an Internet connection.

Move the wireless router to another location if you are able to. Having too many electronics in one area will cause interference with certain electrical devices, especially wireless routers.

Locate the toolbar in the bottom-left corner of your desktop. Right-click the Internet or wireless icon at the bottom of the screen and select "Connect to a Network." Select the network you wish to connect to and click "Connect." If you are connected to the signal but still have no luck with your browser, right-click the wireless icon again and select "Diagnose and Repair." This should repair any connection issues you are facing.

Enter the proper passwords to establish an Internet connection if you are in a public place. Entering the wrong password will make the network unavailable. Ask someone to verify you have the correct information and enter it in the window when prompted to set up an Internet connection to the network.
