Shut down the system and remove all of the cords and cables. Wait for about 10 minutes for the system to cool.
Touch an unpainted piece of metal to remove the static electricity from your body. Static electricity can damage your system.
Slide the small battery compartment door off the front right-hand side of the laptop. Slide the battery pack out of the laptop.
Flip the laptop over and place it on a flat surface. Orient the laptop so that the front is facing you. Locate the upgradeable memory compartment on the left-hand side of the bottom of the laptop.
Unfasten the small screw from the memory compartment door with your Phillips-head screwdriver. Slide the memory compartment door to the right. This will expose the RAM modules, which will be laying flat in the system.
