Pull the output tray away from the printer. You will find the paper output tray on the side of the Xerox machine. Grasp the edge and pull the output tray toward your body.
Open the Xerox machine. Use one hand to pull the latch on the top of the Xerox machine. As you pull the latch, lift the Xerox machine's lid upward with one hand. Opening the lid permits you to view the interior to discover the source of the malfunction.
Dislodge any pieces of paper within the Xerox machine. During the printing process, paper often becomes trapped in the Xerox machine. Carefully remove the paper with your hands. Pull the paper out then remove any small pieces, that were torn off in the process of removing the paper from the Xerox machine.
Close the Xerox machine's lid. Grasp the lid with two hands and push down firmly to close the lid.
Remove all the paper from the input tray on the side of the Xerox machine. Pieces of printing paper combine in the Xerox machine; you need to pull the pieces apart with your hands for the Xerox machine to function correctly.
