Save and close all open files and software programs.
Restart your computer. When the Dell logo appears or at the first screen that displays text, tap "F2" and then stop when the "Entering Setup" message appears. If this does not happen, press "Ctrl" + "Alt" + "Enter" and then press "Delete" if you have a desktop; press "Fn" + "F1" or "Fn" + "Esc" if you have a laptop.
Use the up and down arrows to select the "HDD Acoustic Mode."
Use the "+" and "-" keys to expand "Performance."
Select "QUIET." Your computer will now run slower, but quieter.
Press "Esc" to save your changes and exit System Setup.
