How to Replace the Transfer Roller in a 2420

Lift open the top cover of the printer.

Lift the toner cartridge out of the machine using the handle.

Look down into the area vacated by the toner cartridge and locate the transfer roller. It will be a fairly slim and long black roller with a white gear and bushing on the left and a black piece to slide into on the right. Using the pliers, pinch the tabs on the white bushing on the left and lift the transfer roller shaft out and to the left of the printer.

Install the new transfer roller by sliding the right end first into the black piece on the right side and then placing the left end through the bushing and into the left side. Make sure to line the grooves on the bushing with the spring below it to ensure proper installation.
