NEW DELHI: Both the smartphones, the Galaxy S9 and the Galaxy S9+ will see the light of the day at MWC 2018. While this is known from quite some time based on several leaks, what users may not know is that there may be a third device too debuting on February 25, 2018 at Samsung's MWC 2018 keynote event. This is not a smartphone but an accessory for the Galaxy S9s, called the DeX Pad.
If you have been tracking Samsung's major launches, you may be well aware of the DeX Station, which debuted alongside the Samsung Galaxy S8 and the S8+. The Dex Pad seems to be an upgrade over that.
Although the term 'DeX Pad' is not new, it has now been leaked in images. Smartphone tipster, @evleaks has posted a couple of images showing the accessory for the Galaxy S9 and its ports. The device is said to connect with other PC accessories such as keyboard and mouse, making the handset a kind of mini-PC. It has a dedicated charging port on the top side, while the USB and HDMI ports sit on the upper side.
It has been added that the DeX Pad will also make the attached Galaxy S9 act as a touchapad or virtual keyboard. It has been reported that the product will be compatible with older handsets as well (maybe Galaxy S8 and Note 8 family.)
From the previous leaks it is indicated that the Galaxy S9 and the S9+ will appear similar to that of the Galaxy S8 handsets. The internals are likely to be more powerful. Interestingly, a recent report revealed that the battery size could stay the same. According to the listing of repair components of the Galaxy S9 and S9+ on Union Repair website, the duo is said to sport 3000mAh and 3500mAh battery.
