Sharp has launched its new Sharp Android One S3 smartphone in Japan. The device skips on a fingerprint reader, but boasts of a rugged design with features like IP6X water and dust resistance . It comes in Turquoise, Navy Black, White, Pink colour options, and is priced at 32,400 Yen (Rs 19,000 approx).
In terms of specifications, the Sharp S3 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 chipset with 3GB RAM. It comes with 32GB of onboard storage, which can be further expanded up to 256GB via a microSD card. The smartphone sports a 5-inch IGZO display with a Full HD (1920x1080p) resolution and is backed by a 2,700mAh battery, which the company claims can last up to 22 hours on LTE network and 605 hours on standby.
Coming to optics, The smartphone features a single 13MP rear sensor paired with an LED flash and a 5MP front-facing camera. It runs Android 8.0 Nougat and should receive Android updates as it is a part of the Android One Program. In terms of connectivity, the Sharp S3 Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, a 3.5mm audio jack and comes with a USB Type-C port for charging.
Sharp launched the Aquos S2 with an edge-to-edge display in August last year. It’s a full screen device with a 5.5-inch display and a 2040 x 1080p resolution. The smartphone sports a 87.5 percent screen-to-body ratio based on Sharp's Free Form Display technology and is powered by the Snapdragon 630 chipset.
