It has a 5.5-inch full HD display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, 64GB/128GB inbuilt storage, 16MP + 20MP rear cameras, 16MP front-facing camera and a 3300mAh battery.

Apple iPhone 8 Plus

Apple iPhone 8 Plus is the company's newest smartphone in India. It is priced at Rs 73,000 and Rs 86,000 for the 64GB and 256GB storage models respectively. The smartphone includes a 5.5-inch Retina screen, A11 Bionic chipset, dual 12MP rear cameras and 7 MP front cameras.

LG G6 entered India in April this year at Rs 51,990 but later went through a couple of price cuts. It has a 5.7-inch 'FullVision' QHD+ display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 chipset, 4GB of RAM, 64GB storage, dual 13MP rear cameras, 5MP front-facing camera and a 3300mAh battery.

HTC U11 comes at a cost of Rs 51,990 and has squeezable sides to activate apps, just like the Pixel 2 XL. Some of the highlighted features of the flagship smartphone are 5.5-inch QHD (2560x1440 pixels) Super LCD display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 835, 6GB RAM, 128GB inbuilt storage, 12MP dual rear camera, 16MP front-facing camera and 3000mAh battery.

The new made-by-Google smartphones -- Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL -- are here. With the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL, the company is once again asserting its hardware ambitions. The two phones were unveiled along with a slew of other Google-branded hardware gadgets including a new camera, laptop, earbuds, VR headset, speakers and upgrades to its home automation range. Google's new Pixel smartphones are largely identical, except for some differences in size and display. ​ India pricing: Pixel 2 starts at Rs 61,000; Pixel 2 XL starts at Rs 73,000

The price of the Google Pixel 2 in India starts at Rs 61,000 (64GB), the 128GB variant of the smartphone is priced at Rs 70,000. As for the bigger model Pixel 2 XL, its priced at Rs 73,000 onwards. The 128GB variant of the phone will be available at Rs 83,000 in India. The pricing is quite similar to the recently-launched new iPhones. Apple iPhone 8 starts at Rs 64,000 in India, the bigger-screen iPhone 8 Plus sports a starting price tag of Rs 73,000. The tenth anniversary model iPhone X is priced much higher at Rs 89,000 onwards.

​ India availability: Will be up for pre-order starting October 26

Though Google said that India is among the list of countries where the two new smartphones will arrive in the first wave itself, the pre-booking for the devices in India is starting weeks after they go on pre-order in the US. The duo are already available for pre-order in the US. In India, interested customers can pre-order Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL starting October 26. The Pixel 2 will hit retail shelves on November 1, while Pixel 2 XL will go on sale from November 15 in the country.

​ Both phones are Flipkart exclusive (online)

The two new Google Pixel phones will be exclusive to Indian e-commerce major Flipkart (online). This means prospective buyers can look forward to some exclusive offers on the website. The e-tailer was also the exclusive online partner for Apple iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus launched last year.

Screen sizes: Pixel 2 has 5-inch screen, Pixel 2 XL sports 6-inch screen

While the smaller Google Pixel 2 features a 5-inch full-HD screen, the Pixel 2 XL sports a 6-inch full-HD display. The two screen sizes are same as were being speculated in the online media since past few days.

Both phones run on Android 8.0 Oreo

Both the phones run on Android Oreo, the freshest version of Google's Android OS. The company has also promised latest security updates and patches for the next three years to the devices.

The smartphones run on Qualcomm's current flagship processor Snapdragon 835. The processor also powers present flagships like OnePlus 5, Samsung Galaxy S8, Galaxy S8 Plus and HTC U11.

As widely-speculated, the big-screen Pixel 2 XL has been developed by Korean electronics giant LG. Pixel 2 has been developed by HTC's Pixel division, which Google acquired recently.

Both the phones OLED displays. And Google claims that they are generally superior to their Apple iPhone counterparts. The Pixel 2 has a display density of 441 PPI, while Pixel 2 XL comes with POLED display with 538 PPI; iPhone X has an OLED display with 458 PPI. The other two new iPhones, iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus, come with LCD displays.

Both the phones have 4GB RAM and come in two storage variants 64GB and 128GB. There's no support for micro-SD card.

Have 'squeezing sides'

Google's new phones have HTC U11's 'squeezable sides'. This means they have an 'active edge' which means that squeezing the phone’s sides will fire up Google's virtual voice assistant.

No headphone jack

Google has dropped the headphone jack in both Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL smartphones. The duo have have a single USB-C port at the bottom.

Front-facing speakers are back

Both the smartphones come with dual front-facing speakers. One of the key features of Nexus smartphone range, the speakers were missing in the last year's Pixel devices.

​ Come in three colour options

The new Pixel smartphones come in three colors -- Just Black, Clearly White and Kinda Blue.

No dual-camera set up at the back

Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL come sans one of the often-touted features of this year's flagship smartphones, dual-lens camera at the back. Both the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL phones use a single 12.2-megapixel lens at the back. Pixel 2 has a 12.2-megapixel rear camera with an f/1.8 aperture and optical image stabilization. Google has instead added 'dual-pixel sensors' on both the new phones, this means that the lenses can focus faster and achieve the background-blur effect of 'portrait mode' shots. Buyers of the two phones will also get unlimited storage on Google Photos.
