IVoomi Me 3S review: Decent smartphone in the price segment [ad_1]

iVoomi entered the Indian smartphone market in March 2017 and since its inception, the brand has had a focused approach of infiltrating the entry-level and sub 10k price segment.

Ivoomi recently came up with its flagship model the iVoomi Me3S. The smartphone has been priced at Rs. 6,499 and is available on Flipkart as well as offline stores in partnership with iVoomi.

After launching a bunch of smartphones in the country iVoomi has finally released its most expensive device. The brand introduced the device with some promising numbers and features and today we will try to find out if Me3S is actually as astonishing as iVoomi has promised.

So, without further ado let's go ahead with the review.

IVoomi Me 3S review: Decent smartphone in the price segment

Specifications: Nothing too extraordinary!

The iVoomi Me 3S is powered by MediaTek MT6737 quad-core processor. The device gets 3GB of RAM with 32GB inbuilt storage. MicroSD card support enables you to expand memory to 128GB. The 4G VoLTE smartphone has 5.2 inch HD IPS display with 1280x720 pixels of resolution and 2.5 D curve glass protection.

On the camera front, the Me3S has a 13MP rear camera with LED flash and 8MP front snapper with a single LED flash as well. Ivoomi has incorporated Samsung sensor on Me3S. The smartphone boasts Android Nougat 7.0. It gets 3,000mAh battery with power saving and machine learning optimization. The device supports fast charging which we will put to test once we review the device. The smartphone comes in three colors viz. Midnight Black, Champagne Gold, and Teal Blue.

The specifications are decent for a smartphone that has been priced quite modestly. However, iVoomi could have pushed a bit more and provided a few additional elements on its flagship device to make it stand out among the competition.

Design: Lasting design in a plastic body!

The front panel of iVoomi Me 3S has three touch buttons viz, home button, back button, and multitasking button. The signage on the buttons is quite bright and bold and iVoomi had no plans of hiding it.

The front panel also has an LED flash for front camera. It has the secondary snapper itself and the earpiece. The rear panel has the primary camera at the corner accompanied by the rear flash. IVoomi is engraved on the back panel in shiny metallic design. The speaker grill is placed at the bottom of the rear panel.

Micro USB 2.0 port and 3.5mm audio jack are positioned at the top edge. The right side edge has volume rockers and power toggle. The left side edge and the base edge are blank.

The antennae bands on the top and bottom add up to the aesthetics of the device. The edges are rounded up and although the device seems to have a unibody, the rear flap comes off and the battery is also removable.

The device has a decent design and the smartphone is easy for operation with a single hand given the compact form factor. The display of the device is quite tough and has the capability to endure jerks and falls to an impressive level.

Camera: LED flash on front and back!

Camera: LED flash on front and back!

iVoomi Me 3S has a 13MP rear camera, although you do not expect the picture quality to be too awe inspiring on a device priced as our protagonist, it is still quite impressive. The pictures capture just the right amount of detail with suppressed noise.

However, what could have been a good camera in the price segment turns into a less appreciated factor due to an outdated and feebly detailed camera app. IVoomi has incorporated outdated filters which certainly is a disadvantage for Me 3S. Competing devices in the price segment from Yureka and even Asus have better camera app and features.

The front camera which is an 8MP snapper develops pictures with lesser details as compared to rear camera. Pictures clicked in low light using Me 3S camera are quite noisy. The color balance of pictures is also not too boastful. Having said that I would also like to state here that the problem with the front camera is very common among smartphones in the 5-7k price segment. So, the front camera picture quality is at par with its competition. The selfie flash on the front panel also adds value to the device.

While the quality is not too much on the downside the camera app certainly is.

Performance: Tackles your day to day needs!

Performance: Tackles your day to day needs!

The iVoomi Me 3S has a MediaTek MT6737 quad-core processor coupled with 3GB of RAM. The device is capable of running small games without a glitch, however; the performance is not enough to pull it through heavy games. It is great for day to day tasks and never gives up on apps quite easily.

Operating System and UI: Android Nougat and stock interface

Operating System and UI: Android Nougat and stock interface

The smartphone runs Android Nougat 7.0 which is not a big deal given the market scenario where every smartphone is coming out with the Android version. Moreover, iVoomi's entry level smartphones also boast Android Nougat.

iVoomi has the stock UI for Me 3S although it has introduced a few elements that make it easy for users to handle the device. The control center on the Me 3S looks very similar to iOS' assistive touch. The option has almost every accessibility tool that come in handy while operating a smartphone.

Display and Speakers: Over-saturated display with loud speakers

Display and Speakers: Over-saturated display with loud speakers

The display on the smartphone is 5.2-inch HD IPS with 1280X720 pixels of resolution. This makes the screen sharp enough. The over-saturated screen displays colors brightly but fails to offer a subtle and cool texture to it. The daylight performance of the device is pretty impressive and the viewing angles are also quite alright. The 2.5 D curved glass on the display makes it insanely tough. At the smartphone launch, the device was thrown and slammed and stepped upon yet the display managed to remain intact.

You can rely on the device to an extent while you can be sure that the screen won't crack from shortfalls.

The speakers, on the other hand, are quite crisp and offer optimum amount of volume with decent quality.

The display and speakers together make up a good team to develop a liking among users who prefer watching movies and videos on smartphones.

Battery life: 3,000mAh battery lasts through the day!

Battery life: 3,000mAh battery lasts through the day!

The smartphone boasts a 3,000 mAh battery and is enough to last through a day. With minimal use, the device lasted close to 17 hours, whereas, rugged used decreased its life to 13 hours. There are no complaints with the battery life of the smartphone since at its capacity the battery performed satisfactorily. The smartphone takes close to 2 hours to completely charge the battery.

Conclusion: iVoomi fails to decorate its device!

iVoomi Me 3S isn't one of the best devices in the price segment, it isn't worse either. It has been priced quite humbly although a few missing elements do bother a user.

The device is quite decent in terms of use and accessibility. What is certainly missing from iVoomi is the fact that it has failed to market the device well. An uncertain USP has further closed the doors for its reach to the public.

Since the smartphone is also available offline the brand solely relies on retailers skills to sell out the stock
