NEW DELHI: Earlier this month, Apple sent out invitations for its special event to be held on September 12. The Cupertino-based tech firm is likely to launch its much talked-about smartphones at the event. The handset that will be seeing the light of the day at the event are tipped as the iPhone X, iPhone 8 and the iPhone 8 Plus. The firm has scheduled the event for September 12 at 10:00 am (10.30PM in India). The event will take place at Steve Jobs Theatre located in Apple Park campus in Cupertino, California.
If you are not attending the event in person, then you can livestream it. The launch event will be streamed on iOS and macOS devices. Microsoft Windows 10 users with Microsoft Edge browsers will also be able to view the live stream. Unfortunately, there is no other legit way of streaming the event directly from Apple on Android and those with older versions than Windows 10.

Apple iPhone 8 expected to launch on September 12: Likely price, features and all you need to know
If reports are anything to go by we are less than two weeks away from the launch of next iPhone. Dubbed to be called iPhone 8, a recent report in Wall Street Journal claims that Apple will launch the smartphone on September 12. Apple iPhone 8 will be the company's tenth anniversary iPhone and so the company is said to be planning big for the phone. The speculations about the likely features and specifications of the upcoming smartphone has kept the tech grapevine churning for months now. Few reports have also talked about its likely price. Based on these and some other recent reports, here is everything we know about the Apple iPhone 8.
Launch and availability: Likely to be unveiled on September 12, sales to start on 22nd
Although there is no official confirmation from Apple, a report from the Wall Street Journal claims that iPhone 8 will be unveiled on September 12. Some previous reports too had claimed that the smartphone will go on sale on September 22. The dates mentioned here go in line with Apple's past record wherein it launches the handset on Tuesday or Wednesday and makes it available on a Friday.
Price: Likely to be priced around $999
Apple iPhone 8 is expected to be the most expensive smartphone by Apple. Since the handset will include more number of features than the iPhone 7S Plus and the iPhone 7S it is being said to cost around $999. And looking at the past records, the iPhone has always been one of the costliest in India, so expect it to cost more in the country after taxes.
To sport facial-recognition
Apple iPhone 8 is said to sport Touch ID paired with facial recognition. According to a report in Korea Herald, the speed of the facial-recognition system used in the device will be measured in 'millionths of a second.'
May come in three storage variants: 64GB, 128GB and 512GB
As per a report in Chinese website GeekBar, the upcoming iPhone will come in three storage capacities 64GB, 128GB and 512GB.
To feature an bezel-less OLED display
Apple iPhone 8 is rumoured to come with edge-to-edge OLED screen. Recently, a picture was posted by Benjamin Geskin on Twitter that was claimed to be from the screen assembly for the device. It too showed an edge-to-edge display.
Dual-rear cameras
Although Apple has revealed nothing about the dual-rear camera setup, its inclusion is highly likely. This is as the technolgy already made its debut in Apple iPhone 7 Plus last year. Apple is also said to be betting big on augmented reality (AR) technology. AR apps too can make good use of dual-rear camera set-up.
Wireless charging
Yes, iPhone 8 will feature wireless charging. This has reportedly been revealed by Robert Hwang, CEO of Taiwan-based iPhone assembler Wistron. "Assembly process for the previous generations of (iPhones) have not changed much, though new features like waterproof and wireless charging now require some different testing, and waterproof function will alter the assembly process a bit," Hwang reportedly told reporters during a shareholders' meeting. Wistron is said to have recently started assembling iPhone SE units at its plant in Karnataka, India.
Water resistant, glass back panel
Besides confirming the wireless charging feature, Wistron CEO also revealed that the upcoming smartphones will have water-resistant design. Since the smartphone will come with wireless charging, analysts believe that it is likely to sport a glass or a plastic back panel for hinder-free connection.
For iOS users
Apple will be live streaming the iPhone 8 launch event using its HTTP Live Streaming (HLS) technology. The technology requires Safari v9.0 and later on iOS (iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch).
For MacOS users
Those who are using Apple MacBook, MacBook Pro, MacBook Air or the iMac devices, would require the Safari version 10.11 or later to run the live stream.
For Windows users
Microsoft too will be live streaming the iPhone 8 from its Microsoft Edge browser. The browser is available for those who are using Windows 10 OS version on their PCs.
For Apple TV users
Those who are using even bigger displays to view the Apple iPhone 8 live stream will require Apple TV (2nd or 3rd generation) with software 6.2 or later or an Apple TV (4th generation).
Besides the Apple iPhone smartphones, the company is also expected to launch the upgraded 4K Apple TV and the Apple Watch 3.
